laine deal or no deal trades
Blues decline. Just extended Schenn this season, not trading him and Petro's rights for Laine. They already have 10 locked up and the ideal situation is to sign 27, they're not going to trade both of them away to acquire Laine and lose 2 pieces when at worst they only lose one of them.

The Parayko trade rumors are a pipe dream. He won't be available for a trade until his last year of his contract and that's if they can't afford to resign him. But they've got 2 seasons, and an expansion draft to figure that out.

Expansion Draft
Kyrou will be protected in the Exp draft. Barbashev, Blais, MacEachern, Sanford will be left unprotected before him. Underpaid Pietrangelo by 500k minimum, and overpaid Binnington by about 1.5mil. He's not going to get that big of a raise unless he take them deep in the playoffs again.
This team is going to look quite different in the next 2 years. And it's not going to be be holding onto guys. It's going to have draft picks that ascend to the main roster and either sink or swim.
For what it's worth, I think Seattle takes Blais, Barbie, Dunn, or if we toss in a sweetener, possibly even Faulk.

The MIN trade is ridiculous. But It blinded everyone on the fast you resigned Shattenkirk for 2 years. I'd pass on that too. Fragile guy with a bruised ego now.

I think Bokk became expendable with the emergence of some bottom 6 guys last year and now Kostin is looking like the player they wanted when they drafted him.

I'll be honest, I didn't even look at the signings. Not even a Caps fan, not a hater either. But I'd gladly swap out Osh for Hall as well.

I'm confused... you think a consistent 50pt scorer is why the window isn't "wide open?"

Binnington Terrible deal but Signed
There's usually a reason guys are low on the depth chart and constantly get passed up by incoming talent. I"m a huge supporter of Binnington, but I don't can't fault this contract. People need to remember that on this contract, he's getting paid for what he DID, not what he's going to do. So prove that you weren't a fluke, and go show us that you can do it over the course of a full season and your career.

Hey Blues fans this mock team is the most legi
Save the approx. 3mil by letting Fabbri, Soshnikov, Bleackley, & Stevens. Fabbri has had enough chances IMO. Sosh isn't panning out to anything. Stevens was a depth signing so MAYBE we could bring him back for a AHL filler. And Bleackley just hasn't panned out, cut your losses I think.
Most of the other contracts though look reasonable. Sandford might be a bit high, but we'd only be arguing over maybe 200k.
Maroon comes back I think for another team friendly contract. He's played well enough to come back if the team wants him. And I think being able to be home with his son is more important to him than going somewhere else to make more money. Gunnarson is gone most likely. He's just the casualty of having younger guys ready to come up.

Oh I get it. I just think that's where NJD start with a package. I think it way too much for Hall with no guarantee of an extension. But you shoot for the moon knowing you're not going to get it and take something of slightly less value. Even if it's your original target all along.

NJD wants Kyrou, Kostin, or Thomas in a package for Hall, the rest is just filler. Steen doesn't waive his NTC to go back to TOR. The only place you'd stand a chance at getting him to do that is WPG, and that's just because the weight his last name holds in that city. And I doubt CAR goes for Bozak. No logic, just doubt they do with their current success.

Kadri and Brown gone Thoughts
Blues say no. Have too many centers right now. Would have to unload Bozak in that deal as well and I doubt they part with their 2020 1st rounder for anything short of "holy ****" type talent. Unless Bozak is going back the other way, it doesn't make sense for them. And considering Bozie is a higher cap hit, I doubt TOR wants him back.

I think the Blues take that trade to get out of Allen's contract and maybe make a run at a guy like Bob. Or if they think Binnington can hold on to the job until Husso is NHL ready. Not sure what Russell's contract is, but that might necessitate them moving a D-man too.

I have no idea why nearly EVERY trade proposal on here is sending Kostin the other way. Giving up on the kid when he's only 19 and was hurt for parts of this year. Those 4 have become the "untouchables" unless you're getting high end NHL roster talent coming back.
