Buffalo Sabres 2018-19. Huge trades w/ SJ, CAR, MTL.

Created by: sabres1108
Team: 2018-19 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: May 8, 2018
Published: May 8, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Sabres switch to royal blue jerseys as they start a new chapter in the franchise. :)

Eichel "C" also switches to #9 :)
Okposo "A"
Vlasic "A"

Sharks trade Vlasic to clear cap room for Tavares, Kane, Hertl and Thornton signings. BUF acquires perfect LD to pair with Dahlin for the future while San Jose gets a couple nice younger, cheaper defenseman back along with the 1st round pick they lost in the Kane trade at the deadline.

Carolina get a new starting goalie to compete with Darling along with a couple bottom 6 forwards and a 1st round pick for a top 6 forward who will most likely sign elsewhere at the end of his contract anyhow.

MTL gets their true #1 center in ROR. MTL needs to win now while their franchise guy Price is in his prime. ROR is already in his prime while Drouin still has a couple years to go. You could argue that BUF has to maybe add a pick or prospect which I'd be fine with but I think a one for one deal is fair.

May seem cap strapped a bit but Pominville and Hagelin expire at end of season saving nearly 10 mil.

Let me know what you guys think! Comment below!

ROR produces more point wise than Druin, plays a more valuable position, is the best face off guy in the NHL and is a great defensive player. I would want more in return for him.

As a Sharks fan, I'd trade Burns before Vlasic.

Really, Burns is a beast, but you know your team better than I.

He's older than Vlasic, signed for longer than Vlasic, counts more per year against the cap than Vlasic, and for as good as he is offensively, he's almost equally as bad defensively. Plus, while his game has shown signs of decline in recent years, I'd argue, and I'm not the only one, that Vlasic was our most valuable player this year.

long time Sabres fan just recently moved from BUF to near bay area and due to my girlfriend Ive become part Sharks fan haha I totally agree with ya on Vlasic. Watched a ton of games of both teams this season and Vlasic stands out as by far the most solid defensive defenseman. Perfect to help get max development for Dahlin lol Think like McAvoy-Chara but even better. I just cant see them trading Burns but hey ya never know

Totally agree with all those points im down to keep him but Drouin is younger, faster, cheaper and has a higher ceiling. If they trade ROR who you hoping their target is?

The only way I would trade ROR is it was for a top 4 RHD with some term left on his contract (is someone that will be there in a few years when the team is read to compete).
