Don't think NYI has an incentive to move down in the draft for a goaltender that is still not a solidified starter.

Yes he has played well in the starting position in WSH, but so did Darling in CHI. NYI should just take Veleno with that pick and go after a goaltender in the free agent market or finding one that is slightly better than average.

Why don’t you explain and bring something productive to the conversation? Thanks

The goalie market isn’t exactly full of options right now. And they still have the 12th overall pick even after trading away that one. They’re also getting a middle second round pick and a speedy RW that they can sign to a two way deal and throw in the bottom 6 this year on top of a cost controlled starting goalie.

A very good backup/possible starter will not go for a 1st especially 10 overall even with the addition of barber a mid-level prospect. Goalies don't go for that much in trades.

      Talbot went for a 2nd and 3rd I believe
Raanta and Stepan went for 7 overall, it took the addition of Stepan to make it a worthy 1st rounder.
      Darling went for a 3rd
      Elliot a 2nd

OEL trade looks pretty good though.

Thank you for providing evidence and making valid points. What do you think would be a good return for what I’ve provided in the NYI trade?

Could probably just be Grubauer for like a 2nd and 3rd. But if you really want that 11 overall it would need to have another 1st included at least.

So 11 overall for 2018/2019 1st, Grubauer and Barber.

Alright. In that case, they’d probably be better off just grabbing a 2nd and 3rd for Grubauer and they just keep Barber. He probably could be used in the bottom 6 and on the PK next year.

Caps could probably do 2018 WSH 1st round pick, Grubauer and Barber for 11OA. Though that trade would mess the OEL trade up. I personally think that trade would be worth it though, it's such a good draft this year.
