Why would you give away a 20 goal scorer for a 5th round pick?

Because there's no body that Sheary played more with than Crosby...and we both can be 20 goal scorers next to Crosby and not cost $3M. You on his left and me on his right...that line will score 80+ goals easily.

And yet Draisaitl is the only guy to score 20 next to McDavid, who has been just as impressive as Crosby since Sheary became an NHL player. Yes Crosby makes players better around him, but playing with superstars and succeeding is no given anymore. You have to dig out pucks, read their offensive play, and always be ready to pull the trigger. Sheary has value to any team looking for a guy who has speed and can put the puck in the net. Penguins having a potential logjam at top 9 wingers is really the only reason he can be seen as available.

Edit: Maroon did it as well last year, but all that did is get him shipped to NJ

Oh for sure! You're right. I'm exaggerating...a little bit . And it's really a credit to Crosby. I think he is 100% the clear cut better player over McDavid...so far...who knows how long that stays, but for EXACTLY what you just said. I have to be honest that I'm going from memory on this one, but I could have swore that Croby's most common linemates during the regular season were Rust, Simon, and Honry in some mix or fashion. Horny I get, but RUST and SIMON? He plays with rookies and "lesser" wingers ( in quotes because lesser compared to the other PIT wingers that COULD be there) ALL THE TIME and his lines are still amazing.
