Faulk Skinner

Created by: tylerb43
Team: 2018-19 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: May 17, 2018
Published: May 17, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is what I can realistically see happening. We are not going to make a splash in free agency or anything like that. Just move pieces around and get a good winger while giving up a good center. And for the last time...the sabres are not signing tavares!!!!!

Why don't we sign Tavares? frown Skinner UFA 19-20, Faulk UFA 20-21, this is a dangerous topic.

This trade is a hockey deal, maybe a pick or prospect added on the CAR side (or remove the BUF 2Rd pick) but it’s very close. You’ve got to give to get and this trade helps both teams.

I have no interest in retaining on ror. Of all the teams in the league, carolina is the one that should be least concerned with us retaining. He was front loaded, his actual salary is around 5.5 starting in 19-20. Carolina isnt spending to the cap and hes only costing them 5.5 for the last 4 years of his contract. Plus i dont wanna commit 7.5 million against our cap over the next 5 years.

That’s very reasonable.

We will be fine to sign both of them when the time comes. They wont sign for much more than what they are currently making

Actually it is fine just the way it is. O'Reilly <=> Faulk, Lehner and 2019 1st <=> Skinner. Jeff has 89 goals over the last 3 years, that puts him into the elite category, Faulk is a very good defenseman and has averaged nearly 40 pts and 14 goals the last 4 years. I think the trade is fair as written. It is good trade for both teams, Buffalo needs an elite LW and top pairing defenseman. IMO Let's make a deal!!! cheers

Why do so many people think that Hutton can suddenly become a starter? He's a 32-year-old (will be 33 in December) who has a grand total of 138 games of NHL experience over the past 5 years - every year he was about average except 2017-18, and suddenly he's a starter?? Carolina tried this with Scott Darling - except he was 28 - how's that working out?

not saying he is a starter but he wants to be so lets give him low end money to bridge from now until pekka lukkenon and/or ullmark

3 x $3.75 isn't a short-term, low-cost commitment though - it IS saying he's a starter.

And if he fails and Ullmark isn't ready yet (very likely scenario IMO) you've got no fallback position.
