I mean I didn't want to underpay, the guy is really good. He had 17 goals and is good defensively.

You will need to grossly over pay to pry Hamilton out of Treliving cold dead hands. I think this will do it. Is the talent exchange fair? No the trade is not fair, you are giving away too much,

In my new post I gave a 3rd instead of a 1st. More fair?

I completely endorse your desired to obtain a top defenseman. I think the exchange of talent is closer, as you said, you wanted to post a trade that was likely to get Hamilton, you will need to over pay, then after paying that much for him, will the remaining talent be sufficient for the team to make the play offs. My DATM overpaid on every trade he made. Then the team did not have any depth or defense to make the playoffs. Kane, O'Reilly and Lehner are very talented, but he left a team void of any NHL bottom 6 wingers and bottom 4 defensemen (see Ristolainen playing nearly half of every game). Therefore, last place over all.

This team would have a shot at making the playoffs. Either way Hamilton is still young.

Lmao delusional? Not at all. I know that Mantha, while being inconsistent, put up better point totals in his 1st 2 seasons than Kucherov. Svechnikov is a skilled power forward that hasn’t even had a chance to develop yet. Cholowski is one of the most composed puck moving defenseman in any prospect pool. He’s also very well rounded. You’re delusional if you think any team should give up on their prospects before they even get a real chance.

Wings need top number one dman. We know Hamilton is that and he's still young. Svechnikov is a bust and Mantha is soft. Cholowski is the wild card but we need a for sure thing. This move would be great for the Wings short and long term. You can easily replace Mantha in free agency.

Talk about delusional... Do you think Tampa should’ve traded Kucherov because he had 52 GP and 18 points his first year? Do you think Washington should’ve traded Forsberg for a “sure thing” in Erat? Mantha is soft? Then why does he drop the gloves without hesitation and play the body as much as he does? Why do you think Calgary is considering trading Hamilton? It’s a forgone conclusion that you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about.
