I like both Comeau as a bottom-six wing option and John Moore as an improving two-way defenseman. Not sure if Calgary would give up Andersson for Sheary but possibly. Have also read some positives regarding Riikola.

Maybe too much for Oleksiak (probably a 1x1.2-1.5 prove it deal) and Sheahan (qualifying offer would be 1x2.25) but Rust will probably get at least 3x3 like Sheary got if not more.

way too much for Sheahan ..... go to Matt Canes UFA and RFA salary probables ....its all charted in what salaries will be and always have to factor in Pens expect players to play for less than expected

Rust - I view it as the opposite, having been snake bitten by Sheary's contract I think that Rutherford will be offering considerable less than Sheary got. Plus, in Sheary's contract year he has 23g 53pts, Rust is 13/38 (though more useful away from the puck). 3X$2.25M maybe, 2x$2.0M possible.

Oleksiak - No reason to give him over $1.5M even on multi-year deal. he is a dependable 3rd pair guy, but doesn't do anything specifically well. 2 or 3 @ $1.3M.

Sheahan - He is a 4C that can play 3C short term if there are injuries. The Pens can qualify him, but they don't need to. They can offer whatever they want. 13g 45 pts over the last 2 year, 7g 23pt average. Blah offense, good D, solid FO. They should offer 3x$2M. Don't forget, Detroit dumped him for a 3rd, and he didn't do too much to prove that to be a wrong move.

Way too much or not, Sheahan will be paid that if he stays. Unless they don't qualify him and he walks, but comes back to take less, and I don't see any universe where he would ever do that. That is the minimum amount for a qualifying off for him based on Capfriendly's qualifying calculator.

Rust will get that I promise. He has that intangible factor that coaches and GM's love. He is significantly more valuable than Sheary ever was to the staff regardless of points. The cap is going up, he'll get paid.
