Bruins and Oilers trades. Maybe my best work yet...

Created by: MNBassman
Team: 2018-19 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 5, 2018
Published: Jun. 5, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Wild need depth down the middle and more talent on the right side of the blue line. I would prefer Riley Nash to be younger, but he checks a lot of boxes the Wild need to check. Value opinions always welcomed.
P.S. Lines are not complete. I am leaving players who will most likely be in the AHL on the roster to help see the whole picture.

Maybe if that was Dumba the trade would be close or if you removed the 10th

Don't see Boston interesting in that package. They have a ton of LHD prospects, but on the right it's really just McAvoy and Carlo. They'd be weakening their right side to try and improve their left side. Zucker doesn't really do much for Boston eas they are loaded with LW talent i.e. Marchand, DeBrusk, Donato, Heinen, Bjork & Cehlarik. Can't really comment on Belpedio because I don't know much about him, but I do know that Boston's RW depth isn't great so I don't see trading your top RW prospect as a good idea. JFK has been touted as Bergeron 2.0 and Sweeney wouldn't include him in deals for Landeskog or Duchene, so I imagine his stance is still the same.

It is close as it is. Do some research on Spurgeon...he's very, very good!

I don't see the EDM trade happening. Spurgeon for Nurse would be a decent base deal, but the swapping of the 1st's puts it heavy in MN favor. I'm really not sure which has more value a RFA Nurse or a rental+1 Spurgeon.

No reason for Bos to make that trade, Coyle does more for Bos than Zucker. If it was Dumba/Coyle instead of Brodin/Zucker then Bos might be more interested.

I was actually thinking something around Dumba and Nino. Nino plays a type of hockey that the Bruins like and he can play either wing from what I remember. Not sure how willing Minny would be to trade him though.

I was thinking Coyle more than Nino because he's a RHS, cheaper, and being a local boy doesn't hurt.

I don't think the trade would be good from MN PoV (I'm not as high on the prospects as a lot of other fans). I was just commenting on what players would get Bos attention.

Do some research... Nurse is slowly becoming a top LHD in the league, he is much younger, is RFA.. is Physical presence.. I wouldn't do Spurgeon for Nurse

Top must have a very broad range then. Nurse is becoming a quality LHD, but he's not near the top in the league.

I think that EDM would not touch that deal with a two foot barge pole because nurse is one of our most physical guys and is a great penalty kill guy, which the Oilers need badly, he is also like blue tommorow said becoming the best LHD in leauge. If EDM would want to trade we would want either Charlie Coyle or Matt Dumba for someone like Klefbom who has a rocket of a shot or to dump some money Lucic and that would benefit minnistoa’s physicality of there game.

No interest at all in Lucic, $6m for a 3rd liner is too much to stomach. Klefbom would be on the 3rd pairing, so no interest in him either. Larsson for Spurgeon is the base trade I want.

IDK sometimes being a local kid can be tough (Jimmy Hayes knows that lol). I don't watch enough Minny to know how Coyle's skating is, but Boston is looking to go more towards a speed game and that's why I was thinking Nino. Again I don't watch enough of Minny, but from looking at the numbers Coyle seems like a younger version of what Backes gives you now. Would I take Coyle in the right deal? sure, but it would have to be the right deal.

My take on Coyle: He is big, strong, fast and has very good hands. Why does't he produce more? That's truly the question. He will have shifts, games, weeks, and once in a while even months where he is the best player on the Wild...followed by games, weeks, and once in a while even months where he disappears. Consistency is his biggest problem. He checks all the other boxes for being an elite player in this league.

I'd put Coyle's speed ahead of Nino's. Coyle is the faster/better stick handler also. Bassman gave a good summery of Coyle.
