kind of funny in hockey. Draft picks aren't worth as much as in other sports. I think because the history is to draft young and not play them while they develop unless they are really really good.
The draft usually doesn't have 3 great players at the top. It's usually that 1 guy, Mathews, McDavid, Crosby, and then everyone else. Sometimes you get a year where you get an Ov and Malkin. I can't remember the last time I saw 3 game changing players out the NHL draft. Because of that, after that 1st or 2nd pick the value takes a huge dive. At least that's my opinion. I mean Columbus took Dobois at 3 a few years ago. He's a good player, but McDavid or Mathews he is not.
