kind of funny in hockey. Draft picks aren't worth as much as in other sports. I think because the history is to draft young and not play them while they develop unless they are really really good.
The draft usually doesn't have 3 great players at the top. It's usually that 1 guy, Mathews, McDavid, Crosby, and then everyone else. Sometimes you get a year where you get an Ov and Malkin. I can't remember the last time I saw 3 game changing players out the NHL draft. Because of that, after that 1st or 2nd pick the value takes a huge dive. At least that's my opinion. I mean Columbus took Dobois at 3 a few years ago. He's a good player, but McDavid or Mathews he is not.

You’re not getting Domi nor Strome for 2 spots, Arizona would go defense anyway and the only defender projected off the board at that point is Dahlin

Lebrun started this but I honestly don’t see getting a significant roster player in return for moving out of 3. If it were that case I think that Carolina would be looking for that kind of trade with #2

Don't think Arizona does that trade. But why would Montreal move down 4 spots just to get AHLer Virtanen? And AA hasn't shown he's a difference maker either.

None of them trades are enough, a top 3 pick's value is hugeeee in the nhl, maybe try to go for rangers giving up their 9th and 26th overall picks with a player like hayes or namestnikov

Sorry guys, no team is moving up a couple spots just to draft a winger. Not happening. At least not for those prices.

Put yourself in their shoes, would you do Galchenyuk+5th/6th for 3rd?

Picks could work though. A team could add a 2nd rounder and a 3rd rounder to move up 1-2-3 spots but that is the most. Its simply not worth it otherwise. All the players from 3-10 are going to be good. Team moving from outside the top 10 could pay a higher price to move to 3rd but the price again is almost not worth it.

If this was offered, Habs should take it and run like hell:

                Quoting: Christiansilvestri
Well give you namestnikov, 9th overall, 26th overall

But Im almost sure they won't be.
