A different NYI trade (Ladd's 3rd time back???)

Description
I'm a Blackhawks Fan so I don't want to pretend. I'm trying to put myself in the NYI shoes and ask myself. What does my team need as of 6.15.18. Well it's a lot. I don't have a #1C, #1D, or competent goalie. I.E. I don't have any of the major (3) pieces needed for the NHL. So how can go about solving for this. The answer is money!

Show Tavares some commitment by making splash. Sign John Calrson and then JT. Let's say you spend $21M for BOTH Carlson and Tavares. NYI still has $16M to sign ancillary players! That's CRAZY GOOD and solves (2) of NYI's biggest problems.

Why do the Hawks do this. Ladd is still a serviceable player. He's 32 and yes, way overpaid, but The Hawks also need to plan for the future considering their high priced Vets...so they get another QUALITY draft pick that will be a future ELC. Ladd can still help mentor these young guys to be true NHLers.

AND for anyone nit picking...yes I know my roster size is too big...I'm just trying to show the progression into the future too. Let's not forget about Ian Mitchell!!!

The Hossa inclusions means nothing for both teams, but you are right, clearing Ladd would be desirable by the Isles, but do the Hawks really want him?

What is Hossa's purpose? I understand his actual cash cap is lower, but what about AAV? What is your plan for him, LTIR?

This post is exactly for that reason. I would love to hear thoughts! Signing Schmaltz shouldn't be that hard...maybe Debrincat the next year might be though, but getting guys like Wahlstrom and Hayton...huge wins!

Hossa's LTIR for sure. So whether it be CHI or NYI the only things that really need to be a factor is...He's not LTIR until after day 1. So both teams need to include his cap on Day 1 and then move him to LTIR. From the Hawks perspective it eliminates some juggling...something NYI can do. From a NYI perspective it's pretty harmless.

***EDIT*** CHI can't just send ANYONE down to the minors. They'd go to waivers first...so it's kinda a deal for CHI.

I see you're interested in grabbing two forwards if given the chance. If the ratings are correct those picks about six to nine are close. Wonder if any trades are made if some team really wants to move up. Just a week away.

The reason I want (2) forwards isn't a reflection of the defensemen in the draft. To me, it's because I am a firm believer in Henri Jokiharju and Ian Mitchell. Chad Krys is developing nicely too, but ALL of the Hawks best forward prospects are in the NHL right now. Maybe Soderlund, but that's a reach.

@NickC1988 @ChiHawk thoughts?

It's and interesting idea for sure and the draft pick is huge, but the Hawks defense doesn't get any better. In fact, one could argue it gets worse with the removal of Forsling. This team is no better than the one they iced last year. Yes some of the young guys will be better but some of the old guys will be worse. Not to mention the Hawks are now stuck with 2 buyout-proof contracts for 5 more years.

I like the idea but I'm not sure this is a great implementation.

I'm just worried about Forsling. He has the talent for sure, but...3rd pair in Rockford and really didn't play that well in the Calder Playoffs either. There's something going on with his confidence (probably similar to Kempny) where he's not developing like he should because he's not getting ice time. Rutta was really helping him along until Rutta got hurt. Never say Never with the buy-out proof. Who knows what will happen between players and owners next Sept. AND Ladd's just 32 it's not like he's 35 with 5 years left. He's still serviable. Just expensive. If they could get an ELC then next year it would be $6M for both of them. Makes it easier to swallow. Also, keep in mind that experience and size would be a huge help in the playoffs. The Hawks really do have a lot of young guys. I know this post has the 2nd line all as ELCs, but that idea was more "lighting vs thunder" 2nd 3rd lines where reality would be that these ELCs will probably have to be split with vets. I do hear you though. It's what it's a tough call.
