Kane of course cool, but he is almost 30 years old, and Botterill is not going to trade the Dahlin, he is going to build a team systematically for the future, and not for one exit in the playoffs.

Because you don't trade Nick Lindstrom level defenders.

Does he have a 5-6 year guarantee on his job? Kane has never had a major injury, and id guess still has 5-6 years of top level nhl talent point production. Dahlin while unlikely to be a bust is still an unknown....Botterill could be canned if he doesnt live up to expectations, while he doesnt with Kane...a hometown boy who immediately energizes the fan base...not to mention gives the Sabres one of the best lines in the league... at the end of the day this may be a "no", but I don't think it's a hard no....Botterill would have to consider this...

How many defenseman have been compared no Nick over the past 15 years? How many have actually become to him? As good as he is, it's more likely he isn't him than is... this is about risk management...

How many defenders has Lindstrom said we're better than him at that age? Compaire Dahlin's numbers in the SHL to Karrlson's at the same age.

I know he will have 5-6 years yet, but still this deal is not happening. Dahlin is godlike, his game is simply fascinating, and in fact he was only 18 years old recently. If it was a different player, maybe, but not Dahlin for Kane. When was the last time you traded first choice, especially as it is a Swedish kid?

That could be completely true, but has no bearing on where he will end up..... current level doesn't guarantee future ceiling.... what if this is as good as he'll get? Again not saying it's true, but it's a risk....can buffalo accept that risk after being bad so many years....

It's funny because a few years back I offered kane to buff fir Eichel...and was burned for it on here.....who would you rather have had over these past few years and over the next 5 years?

Eichel would prefer, he is gaining 1 point per game and is stable and still very young.

Then why do you want dahlin if he's gonna be a bust? Oh wait that's right, because you know he isn't.

Imagine trading for Rasmus Dahlin only to play a forward DAVID KAMPF on defense with him.

Arizona trade is horrendous. WOW. Do you not understand how LITR works or the value of Hossa's contract?

I understand it completely, do you? They cant LTIR him until the first day of the season, which means they have to be compliant with him on the roster for 1 day. After that unless you are at the cap maximum you can replace that salary...if your under it makes no difference. Furthermore you cant bank the salary savings in LTIR for deadline trades......Detroit swapped 1st rounders for a player Arizona didn't have to pay a penny to employ..which isn't the case here....lastly Datsyuk had 1 year left on the deal, which is also not the case here.... thanks for commenting, ....but try harder....

Looks like you tried too hard...#8 pick to get rid of Hossa??? LMAO

That's not the rule anymore, there is up to a 10% cushion equal to the amount of the LITR.
