I don’t see the value in trading away two starting goalies, one being the one who just blew everyone away in the playoffs including shutting out arguably one of the best offensive teams in the league in game 6 and 7 of the ECF, the other being a young and improving goalie who is a cost controlled RFA. Especially with that type of return. I have no interest in Bishop, he’s just an average starting goalie, Methot was out almost all last season, and Orpik looked solid in the playoffs. We don’t need to make this trade to make room for Carlson. No need to drop 5 million on DSP, Chiasson, and beagle combined. And you’re omitting Chandler Stephenson, who just had a stellar playoff perfromance as well. This trade doesn’t make sense for Washington at ALL.

Why trade Holtby? He was the biggest reason the Caps won the cup.

Bishop average is laughable. Methot will bounce back and hes retained anyway you get into top 15 for draft pick. Ilya samsonov is supposedly your up and comer in net. With these moves you'll be able to contend longer because you'll have cap space for everyone. This is just the most cap friendly solution I could think of today

Very capfriendly to overpay Beagle and DSP. Also by trading Holts to Bishop you save 1M ?. Holts is not going anywhere, and definitely not in an exchange for a goalie who's made out of glass and breaks every year.

Good work but you don't need the space. This trade is very CapFriendly. It's only a little rougher on a random successful team whose needs you haven't remotely considered but who does have good players you'd like than half of what's posted on here. It's not cap friendly, but it is Sooooo Very CapFriendly.

Washington counters with Grubauer for a 15th overall pick. If Dallas' pick is higher, and I'm not going to pretend to know enough about Dallas to remember, then trade it down somewhere else until it isn't, and then trade it for Grubauer. He was top ten in GAA and spct last season among goalies who played at least 30 games. So he and Bishop can alternate months and keep each other from getting too worn out. It should be enough to get Dallas to the playoffs. Okay?
