Trouba to Rangers

Created by: jimmyjets

Description
If Trouba needs to be dealt Jets add a younger 2C in zibanejad and Zucc to create a cup worthy Forward core with Roslovic, Tanev, Dano, Vesalainen, Appleton, lemeiux as injury call ups.

One more show me deal for Helle before committing long term and big money. Allows this to just fit with a small overage if everyone gets their bonus (I don't think Niku gets all his) and there are no longer term injuries to higher paid players. (Unlikely)

Trouba is the most valuable piece in that trade, but Winnipeg would still need to add.

Or subtract. As nice as Zuccs is, he really is not needed in Winnipeg as they are deep on the wing. Zibanejad's money would be far better suited going towards all their talented RFAs upcoming. If WIN has to sell Trouba, they'd be better off doing so for picks/prospects in this scenario.

You will need to add more from the Rangers to get Trouba.
That's not enough for sure.

I think Winnipeg could sell Trouba for picks/prospects but then the team isn't as competitive now. Zuccs is totally a luxary but one we can afford for this season. Then we let him walk. His $4.5 comes off the books and Roslovic slots in. Next year we also ship out Perrault and replace him with Vesalainen. Those two moves gain you about $6.5M in cap space. You give $2M of that to Helle on a long term deal, $3M to Connor on a bridge deal and Wheeler a $1M raise. Laine costs about $4.5M right now with his bonuses so you give the extra $0.5 to him plus what the cap goes up ($4-$5M) to get him on a long term deal for $9ish AAV. Then you need to re-up Myers at about the same hit he's at now since Trouba is gone. The following year Kulikov comes off the books and another cap increase frees up space for all the guys I signed to 2 year extensions.

I think the plan is solid and could work if we had to trade Trouba.

I guess I'm close as both sides think the other should add.

Ridiculous to think that the Jets would need to add more. Trouba is probably worth that haul by himself, let alone with the addition of Petan, who would likely be a great fit anywhere apart from Winnipeg. Jets probably wouldn't go for a trade like this unless Trouba was unlikely to stay long term, which im sure they would prefer, but if things go south and he will not be happy in Winnipeg, his value is high enough right now to demand a hefty return and a good player. Look at Toronto for a trade, Winnipeg wouldnt necessarily need Zib and Zucc when they could pick and choose another combo/player in the league to better suit there needs.
