The worst part about the deal is the UFA expiry status
He's 26......one way or another and he was going to be an UFA.
I'm quite happy with this. Cheap, effective third-pairing guy that I'm not worried about if he gets caught up against a top line. Can play with Faulk if GMDW decides to keep him, or with Fleury if Faulk is traded out. Canes defense is simply terrifying.

I like the Canes D, but they still don't have a goalie. Anyways...the signing to me is a bit counter intuitive. Is TVR supposed to be a $2.3m scratch at times? Is CAR going to try to develop Hayden or Jake anytime soon? It almost seems like they forced their own hand in a way. They may not get the same trade value for Faulk.

They were never going to get top value for Faulk after the Hamilton trade, basically everyone knows thats the odd man out even before this TVR signing

Bean was not going to play in the NHL (most likely). Hadyn Fleury might, and I would still expect Faulk to be traded, but there's a nonzero chance Faulk stays, if nothing else but for Carolina to raise his value early in the year.
