I had never laughed so hard in my entire life XD JT is fast and skilled, he wasnt so fast in the beginning of his career, but now he is. He is EXACTLY what Leafs want and need!

It would be tough enough to pry 1 defenseman out of Anaheim, let alone 2. Why not just combined those deals to make it easier for users to try and follow your train of thought? Jacob Larrson is their prized defensive prospect that is closest to being NHL ready. On the basis that one of their current defenseman will probably need to be traded at some point in order to make room for Montour, in addition to their remaining unsigned RFAs, I think it would be much easier to acquire Manson alone, then Manson plus Larsson. I think Manson's trade value is around Kasperi Kapanen plus two 2nd round draft picks. Considering Kapanen's development, his willingness to do 4th line dirty work, and great speed, it would be a tough loss, but Manson would be work it I think.

The problem was never his speed. He has continue to work hard at that with elite skating coaches his entire minor hockey and pro career, the problem was his edge work. If you look at some Tavares game footage from a few years ago, he has fast and clean straight lines back and forth and tries hard to play a defensive game. The problem used to be that he lost a step because his edges and stops weren't as crisp and fluid as other players around him. He has worked hard on that stuff, specifically, I believe, with Barbara Underhill. There is a specific clip of Tavares last year battling Sean Couturier along the board where he out muscles the bigger and stronger Couturier with some incredible foot and stick work. Tavares is a special player and I think the rest of the league is just upset that he signed with the Leafs.

SO, ur obviously biased leaf fan. Last year Tavares was terrible. Dont let 84 points fool you. At the most important stretch of the year Tavares went Ice Cold. (picked up once we were out of playoffs). He's still slow. IDC what anybody says. Im an Isles fan and watched all 82 games. He wont fit in with TML

Injury prone? He's missed 9 games in the last 4 season's since he got injured at the Olympics... and minus that injury at the Olympics he's missed 17 games total in his career... hell even with that injury at the Olympics it's still only 40 TOTAL!!!

Pick something else to pick on. And as far as his skating goes every analyst on the planet will tell that hes improved his edges to the point where his skating is actually now a strength.

end of 2016-17 Pulled his groin with like 5-7 games left. Wasnt projected to return for 2 months. (in case Isles made playoffs). also was playing with lingering hand injury throughout 16-17

That seems like fair analysis of the situation.
