Prospect Pool rankings (1-10) I'll explain why this system is good or not, the best players and some teams system may be lower just because of track record. (Ex. Oilers)

1.Vancouver Canucks
I really this system of prospects they have elites at all positions, great depth and they have the best prospect in hockey right in Elias Pettersson. They have Quinn Hughes, Thatcher Demko, Adam Gaudette and Olli Joulevi all with great potential. I'm only scratching the surface with this too, need I say more?

2.Philadelphia Flyers
I'm not a Flyers fan but you can't tell this isn't a great system. The best goalie prospect is in their system even though I don't really like to hype up goalies because their just so hard to judge. That prospect is Carter Hart. They also have great depth, a great reputation with development, and are looking like the team to be beat once the Caps and Pens are done in the metro.

3.St. Louis Blues
This was the team that used their 4th or 5th best prospect to get Ryan O'Reilly. Yep, that's crazy if I say so myself. They have a crazy amount of offensive depth in their system. Their defense and goalie depth isn't the greatest but with offensive depth like that and the not using one of their top 3rd prospect to get O'Reilly is why their number 3. Who are the top 3. (Kostin, Thomas, Kyrou).

4.Carolina Hurricanes
This one is surprising to some but they have a strong center, winger combo with Necas and Svechnikov and plenty of defensemen in their system. This is a more top heavy system than a balanced system but they have a center in Necas and and a decent goalie in there too. They also have plenty of youth in their core and these kids have a good home.

5.Buffalo Sabres
They have the best defenseman in their system in Rasmus Dahlin and great depth their too however the reason they're number instead of number 3 or whatever is because they are terrible at developing prospects and I don't see becoming better and they've been rebuilding for years and still haven't made the playoff.

6.New York Islanders
This is an offensive top heavy system for the most part and lacking depth. However guys like Wahlstrom, Dobson and so bring this system up to 6 and they aren't the best with their prospects either. The starpower in this system cannot be ignored.

7.Dallas Stars
This one of the most well balanced system in the league and they also have a stud in Heiskanen. Dallas doesn't have a good track record of drafting however it improved in recent years.

8.Tampa Bay Lightning
Now were getting into the decent or above average systems, Tampa despite being a contender has great depth in the their pool but not elites knocks them down to 8. They have great track record as well.

9.Detroit Red Wings
Lots of star power but not a great track record and ok depth makes this system fall to 9. Zadina is a little overrated as well.

10.New York Rangers
Great depth for a 1st year rebuild and for a lack of 1st rounders for years. No star power makes this system fall to 10.

(this took me over an hour and 11-20 will be tomorrow, all the average systems will be covered)

Wholesale changes were made by the Sabres in 2017, including at GM, Head Coach, Asst/AHL GM, AHL Head Coach, and much of the staff behind them. I don't think the results of prior leadership should be weighed as an intangible against an almost entirely new front office and coaching staff.

It's a little too recent to say right now if anyone the isn't a no brainier pick pans out I'll change my but until then my opinion will stay the same.

It's too early to say right now whether ANYONE on ANY club that isn't a no brainer pick will pan out. This whole discussion is about prospects.

I think you are confusing us with Montreal.

Both are but the habs haven't been in an 8 year rebuild with 3 last place finishes yet. Remember, Mikhail Grigorenko.

That's not bad developing. That's bad drafting. There's a difference.

Here's my list of the 11-20 best prospect systems. Same rules as last time.

11.Toronto Maple Leafs
This is where all the average systems are placed and leafs have decent defensemen in their system but nothing really else. But they have a great ahl team and have pumping out prospects like crazy in the past few years so I gave them a little slack.

12.Boston Bruins
Boston has been retooling on the fly and their best prospects in the nhl, however the still have more in the system but most of the good ones are in the nhl already. They have good depth but no much starpower. Hopefully they don't trade anyone now.

13.Montreal Canadiens
You may think I'm a bit of a homer but hear me out, Montreal for the first in years has an ok system. Unlike Boston and Toronto, they aren't amazing at developing but have great center depth in their pool. I'm pretty excited to see them play in nhl. This system will only get better during the rebuild years.

14.Anaheim Ducks
For a team on the verge of rebuild they have an alright system, Steel is great but other than him they don't have much but are good at finding hidden gems like Kase but he is an nhler.

15.Arizona Coyotes
Most of their young guns are in the nhl so the must have an awful pool? Not amazing but not awful either. I'm not very familiar with this pool as this team has a small fanbase but it's well balanced but no wow factor either.

16.Florida Panthers
The Panthers are a bubble team, they have an ok system. Tippet is pretty good but other than that nothing special but not awful either.

17.Ottawa Senators
The only thing that isn't a dumpster fire right now is their prospect pool but it's only average. They have good depth but hardly any star power, I'm not sure how many will develop in this awful organization right now.

18.Vegas Golden Knights
For only 2 drafts they have an ok pool but they're only starting out. Decent depth, that's all they really have.

19.Calgary Flames
For only drafting until the fourth round they have ok system. Decent defensive depth but that's about it really.

20.Colorado Avalanche
Most are in the nhl so the have ok depth but that all really. Makar and Kaut are the only 2 to be excited about but you guys have bright future ahead.

This took my awhile and all the others will tomorrow. (21-31)

Maybe I'm biased but Makar and Kaut arent the only star prospects in the Avs system. Timmins and Bowers are pretty special players too.

I'd rank COL around 15 ahead of CGY, ANA, MTL, BOS, & TOR. I'd put OTT a bit higher as well

Anaheim is elite? Elite typically means star power and depth. Sam Steel, Jacob Larsson, Troy Terry...aren’t a lot of impact guys after them

Steel, Larsson, Terry, Welinski, Pettersson, and Kossila are all NHL ready.
Jones, Mahura, Comtois, Eriksson Ek, Dostie, Morand, Dostal, and Lundestrom are all future NHLers.
Roy, Fiore, Thompson, Nattinen, Sherwood, Kopacka, Carrick, Sorenson, and Megna are serviceable.

I believe they have an elite pool.
