Have to add at least Honka for Ottawa to make the trade considering they are adding Hanzal (cap dump)

I like Shore well enough, but that's not enough if we take on Hanzal. I would think Honka is the guy

I was thinking about adding Honka for a swap with Christian Jaros.

Something like:
DAL offers Honka, Hanzal, Shore + 2019 1st + 2019 4th
OTT offers Duchene, Jaros + 2019 5th

Ottawa got him less than a year ago. No way they do this deal for less than half the return they give up when they got him. To save face, theyd need Honka/Lindell + Faksa/Janmark + 1st

That makes even less sense than the first trade proposed though. Hanzal is a bad player with questionable health, and a serious cap dump. That lowers what the package can get back. Shore is decent, but not at all anything special or worth building a package around. The 1st, great, money, sure. But that on its own doesn't get Duchene. Adding a defenseman in Jaros with top 4 potential who is very likely going to crack the NHL this year doesn't make any sense. It would be Honka + Hanzal + Shore + 1st for Duchene, and even then most Sens fans would laugh at that.

can't see Ottawa doing that. Jaros is so close to being NHL ready, and the team needs him in the future. the sens organizational depth at RD is abysmal, and Trading off the only one who could step in anytime soon would be a bad move.

I think you take Shore and Jaros out of that deal and it works better

Dude, the only reason Hanzsl wasn't bought out this summer was because go was hurt. He's the definition of a cap dump. Even without throwing in Hanzal, this package doesn't get Duchene.

Take out the 4th and add Hintz. Then imo I’d say it’s a fair deal
