Honestly this trade makes sense, if trouba isn't willing to sign long term in Winnipeg, this is what they should try and get for him. A cheap but talented second line center, a young defenceman, and a pick. Makes sense to me, I think Namestnikov is more than just a product of Kuch and Stamkos. He'd make a good 2nd line center and I'd love to see him play with Laine.

Never been reported that Trouba wants a big city. The dude just wants to get paid what he would get in a market that could afford to pay his entire worth.

That trade is nowhere close to what the jets will get if they move him. Any deal with NYR would start with Hayes, Skjei, or a player of a similar caliber and value.

If Jeff Gorton DIDN'T accept this, I would be very upset. I would comfortably swap out Vlad for Hayes and I'd still do it. I think the Rangers and Trouba are a great match, we have the cap space to make it happen, and we have things the Jets would want out of a Trouba trade, which are middle 6 centres, decent draft pick, and a downgrade from Trouba to replace him. I just don't think this is enough for Winnipeg, honestly.

Trouba has never stated that he desires a big city, And if he did he means his hometown of Detroit nowhere else.
