Guys, cmon. Parayko is worth Nylander +. The Blues are entering their cup window so they’d want quality over quantity.

the isles wouldn't want to pay 10.6 out of pocket for really two useless picks. so many leaf fans want to trade their goaltending depth for nothing.

What? Ok.. imagine there is season 15-16, certain 22yr old player is after two 60+point seasons during his ELC, who is insanely skilled playing with no1 overall selection who is going to break through.. would you trade him for Top-4 RHD with solid two way game, smart defensive zone coverage, good shot and great passing with 3 consecutive 33+point (in other players case 32+ point) seasons? If Yes, you are looking at Faulk for Kucherov trade, congrats..

Nothing would be letting 2 of Pickard, McElhinney, or Sparks get claimed off of waivers come October.

OMG...you are comparing Faulk with Parayko...and Kucherov with Nylander...dude, you need a reality check ASAP. It's not even funny, it's alarming, really.

The thing is, you being a Leafs fan (OBVIOUSLY), if you'd watch other games than Leafs games, maybe you'd understand a little bit more why you're so far out of touch with reality.

Just explain me this : since when a defensemen is considered valueable or great only by looking at his points total?

The Blues literally have all the leverage in a Parayko trade. The reason Parayko rumors came up wasn't because they were selling him, it was because they were buying with him as the currency. Now that the Blues have found there center, they have 0 need to deal Parayko. Therefore, they're only going to trade him if they get an offer they can't turn down. The Blues have no interest in first round picks and prospects and Nylander is probably the only piece the Blues would consider moving Parayko for.

Faulk was arguably better than Parayko at moment of which Im talking about. Defensively Parayko is bit better but offensively Faulk is bit better. Im not saying it would be exactly like this, since Parayko could easily be 50pt guy next year, wait.. Faulk almost cracked 50pts at 23.. All im saying is the comparison 3yrs ago which was pretty real and you see how it panned out. Nylander has Kucherovs upside. He can have similar numbers like Kuch from.. like next season. Nylander has actually better ppg Kuch at 22yrs of age. Im not saying he would surely 100% be just like Kuch, I would be stupid to write that.. they have similar skillset, shot, skating, almost everything.. I watch a lot of games and I see similarities between those two guys. I dont need reality check, those people who compare Nylanders value to Parayko need that. Parayko is solid guy but it would be Parayko + for Nylander.. he is no less valuable than Kucherov was after his ELC ended.. now it seems like I need reality check but we will see in 2yrs who is right and who is wrong.. All im saying is that trading Nylander for help on D would be stupid..

And to your question. Where was I saying that defencemen are considered more or less valuable ONLY by looking at their point totals? Points were just a small piece of comparison. Obviously in that category Faulk has all the advantage comparing 15-16 Faulk to 17-18 Parayko.. defensively Parayko has the advantage, so that comparison of 15-16 Faulk and 17-18 Parayko is not that far off as you are saying in your comment..

Thats comment I want to have here, logical explanation and not bashing immidiately. Thank you.. Blues won preseason and I find it equally stupid for both teams to do that deal. Parayko is piece they can use in very good way and so does Toronto with Nylander.

Blues were only going to move Parayko if they could get a 1st line center in return. With O'Reilly now added, they dont need to trade him.

O'Reilly and Schenn are more of a 1a 1b type thing

Tavares and Matthews are a 1A 1B type thing. Both O'Reilly and Schenn are closer to Kadri than they are to 1s.

The Leafs would be losing big time if trading Nylander for Parayko. In addition to what you mentioned, you have to consider that Nylander is RFA and can be signed long term, whereas Parayko will be UFA in 3.

Really? You know why so few players are claimed off waivers, because the claiming teams has to keep them in the NHL or else they are returned to the Leafs. About one player is claimed a year...total

Not everybody has Tavares and Matthews as there top 2 centers. The point I am trying to make is that O'Reilly and Schenn are equally good, and make a competitve top 6 forward group down the middle.

Wow, there's a lot of very salty people here. I agree with what people are saying that the buds aren't going to trade their goaltending depth away just for picks, maybe as part of a package but only if really necessary. Also no reason to trade Horton's contract, the LTIR relief exists and the Leafs have more than enough money to pay him out.
