Pens - 18'-19' - just a thought - Trades - ARI / MTL / BUF

Created by: Sidstick87
Team: 2018-19 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 2, 2018
Published: Aug. 4, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Dvorak is one of my favorite younger players. With ARI bringing in GALLY and Strome getting to play with big club this year maybe this happens? Dvorak is a perfect 3rd line C with mad speed and can also play LW.

This trade maybe gives us the space to get Patches?

Girgensons adds some bite to line up

Any Pac deal probably starts with Sprong.

I Don't think that Arizona would be willing to part ways with Dvorak, especially since they are trying to form a young core right now. Pacioretty trade is pretty fair as Mark Bergevin would likely want ZAR and the first, also based on the Skinner trade his value could be lower. The last trade with the Sabres is good for both sides, but due to the abundance of fringe NHLers in Buffalo's bottom 6, they would most likely want to dump that contract spot as they are looking to be around 49 contracts (maximum 50), and Simon would probably be a bit of an overpayment for Zemgus with the 3rd. Maybe Simon + 6th = Zemgus? (Coming from Sabres fan)

i wouldnt trade Sprong strait up for Patches, kinda taking risk on a declining player and hoping he comes back around with some better players around him.

That's fine, just saying I don't think MTL does a deal without him. PIT can't offer much else. Maybe Jarry, but with Price there for 8 more years I don't think they need a goalie. But a bottom 6 prospect and a late 1st probably isn't enticing to MTL, they can get more.

I did that trade also of Jarry and 1st for Patches bc MTL would be able to put Jarry with AHL until they find a taker for Price.

This probably is a non starter for the Pens, but the only roster player the Pens have that gets me excited is Maata. Habs have too many wingers already, have at least 3 good c prospects inbound, but LHD is a mess. That’ll be the top need to be addressed in trades and draft. I’d imagine that means a Pens trade won’t work, unless you have a stud D prospect I missed?

The only D prospects we have are Lauzon (17' 2nd rdr) and Addison (18' 2nd rdr)

I almost did an armchair trading for Pacioretty and Dvorak. So, obviously I liked yours.

The greatest Pens need after the offseason is clearly a top 6 LW. Pacioretty is the obvious better choice to us. Trade for Dvorak would be not just thinking in short term, but in long term either. I agree with u he's a very good bottom 6 center and would fit pretty well in Pitt.

But I have 2 disagrees with u. First: I have my doubts about Girgensons trade need. I think Pens should give Bluegers a chance to play in NHL this season. And second: Kessel best moments were playing alongside Malkin. So I don't think it's a good idea put him in 3rd line. I'd put Pacioretty there. Ok, Hagelin doesn't have a good offensive production to play as a 2nd line winger. But I like to balance the first 3 lines as Sullivan does.

But nice job anyway.

Thanks , Ive been trading for Dvorak for almost 2yrs now, lol... I love the kids game and with his speed he would def be a perfect fit here at 3rd line C
