When you think about it, you're getting Karlsson, Andrighetto, Nieto and a 3rd for Nylander, Zaitsev, Liljegren, Bracco, Lindgren, Borgman, Leivo and two firsts... TOR just loses too much

Yeah even though most of those players being given up are AHL players it's still too much. I'd rather have Nylander and Liljegren and the picks over Karlsson

If Karlsson is going to resign here I think simply Nylander plus a pick is good enough value. No team in their right mind is going to give anything up as valuable as Nylander to get EK given his age. Its just how the NHL has gone these days. But I think throwing Zaitsev in there helps also

If you look at most trades proposed, teams are giving up a lot for Karlsson.

Nylander and Toronto's late first are not going to get it done, especially in the division

I really dont think there are many good offers out there for him or he would be gone. I could be wrong though

I think part of the problem is TOR trying to force teams to take Ryan. Which makes it extremely hard for any team to facilitate him and Ryan, that'll be like 20 mill in cap for 2 players

Leafs would likely take that Colorado deal as it's really Nylander for Hughes potential.
But please they Karlsson trades are getting obscene. A massive overpayment....by any team for a one year rental. Think it might be an overpayment for a signed Karlsson. Hughes potentially, Liljgren and more

Hughes is only like 18.5% (50.6% of being #4) at most if Ottawa finishes last (they do have tank competitors), Karlsson is much better than Liljgren's potential, a late first, Zaitsev whos been questioned a lot from what I've seen, Leivo - whos not getting a shot on TML and Borgman, who was beat out by Dermott.

Borgman was sent to the Marlies so he could play hard minutes such as PK in the Marlies, so he could more NHL ready, not that he beat out by Dermot. It was good to see that Dermot could play in the NHL.

It's still an obscene overpayment by the Leafs. No team would pay that much for Karlsson. In effect Nylander, Lijegren, Borgman, Zaitsev and a 1st for one year rental. Three NHL Dmen by 2019, Nylander and 1st. C'mon, I know folks don't like the Leafs, but to think the Leafs have to overpay considerable more than any team for these RHD rentals.....ridiculous.

A. they can resign Karlsson
B. No GM is going to do them a favor now.
C. I don't think its more of an over payment than from what ive seen in Vegas or Tampa bay offers

Now you're being unrealistic, you never saw what was offered by Tampa or Vegas.....even if there were any offers. No one but the executives on those three clubs know what the offers were. So all you're doing is upping these fathom offers (which were never accepted anyway) and think yours is realistic. C'mon'.
And what a silly thought, "they can resign him". Of course they can, any team can sign him next July, hardly a reason to gut your team for a one year rental. Or just wait a year when EK is UFA is he so signable by the Leafs. But do you really think the Leafs are in any position to sign EK when they might be looking at 40m in four players, Matthews, Tavares, Marner and Karlsson? Realistically the Leafs aren't a team to trade for or sign EK long term.
I certainly don't expect any team to give any other team a favour, I just think fans are being really caught in the the hype of EK and any other upcoming UFAs and seriously overvaluing one year rentals. 99% of the time they don't propose these absurd trades for "their" team, it's always for another. Show me a similar trade of assets that the Sabres would give up for one year of Karlsson.
