You think Patches is worth a shot at Jack Hughes? Thats such a delusional ask.

Patches wont get a top 15 pick in the lottery, never mind a Top 5 pick. No one is trading a non protected pick in this years for him.

Even with an extension I don't think COL would pull the trigger. If OTT is as bad as everyone thinks they'll be I would hold onto that Jack Hughes lotto ticket for a kings ransom

In a what have you done lately for me league...he just came off 37 point season and soon to be 30 year old pending UFA. In what world are teams going to be trading potential franchise altering draft picks for him

I REALLY like Max. I think he is a special player. I wouldn't touch this trade though. The top end of this draft is too good.

No way!!! But to make it interesting, the Habs could put their #1 into it -- no lottery protections either way. Add the Avs #1 pick.

So Pacioretty and Habs #1 in 2019 for the Sens #1 and the Avs #1.

Big gamble for both teams, but would sure wake up the league.

you are crazy if you think you are getting the Sens pick in any way shape or form. Patches is not going to get you a 1st round draft pick. If Skinner cant even get a 1st rounder from a team like the Sabres who own 3 1st round picks, in what world is Patches goign to get it after the season he just had being the older player compared to Skinner

wouldnt even do the Avs 1st round pick for him. Based on the current trades to date, thats too much. Dont see why you would over pay on him in August. If he came back to the Habs and put up 15 points in 20 games then yeah he rebuilds that value. But right now you look at what did he do last year and what did other players go for....and 1st rounders aren't being tossed around

Maybe Conditional 2nd Turns into a 1st if he hits 40 points in a season

Conditional picks, that could be in the conversation. Similar to the Evander Kane trade work of a conditional 1st, conditional 4th, and a prospect. Like condition of being a 1st if he resigns, 2nd pick could be condition that the Avs make the playoffs or something performance based.

I am not saying you're wrong about Max being worth a #1 (at least not at this time of year), but there's something very very weird in the Skinner deal. I can't figure it out. Why would a team that has just traded for Dougie Hamilton and who's owner has made a big deal about "winning now" trade a bonafide scorer for a pack of gum? I know I am not the only one scratching his head. Either there's a backroom deal that we're not seeing or there's something very wrong with Skinner that made it so that Brind'amour had no interest in keeping him in Raleigh.

A simple "No" would suffice. Geeze everyone is so aggressive

Honestly, the only explanation that could make sense of the trade is that Skinner made it very clear he won't resign anywhere that is not his preferred destination. That means that the few teams he does want to play for (and he much rather wait to be a UFA cause almost every team in the league should be in on him) probably didn't have the actual means to acquire him this season. He's going all in on himself, and rightfully so.

You asked what avs fans would think and even mention you you think it would be a tough sell for a top 5 pick. Honestly what did you think the response was going to be

Hard pass for the Avs. Think it's been pretty much summed up already.
