Weber

Created by: Drunkley
Team: 2018-19 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 8, 2018
Published: Aug. 8, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
They get a younger, healthy RHD for about the same cap hit as Weber, while adding a great young forward, goaltender and 1st rounder. Leafs add the big physical RHD we crave..size, skill and leadership, for a much reduced and friendly cap hit. I still believe he would be great for years to come, and we don’t need him in October/November, we need him for the stretch run, playoffs and the future.

Then have fun drafting around 7-12 the next few years. Without Weber, you’re a guaranteed lotto team, with him for half a season, you’re drafting in middle of the non playoff teams.
We had to trade Kessel, not for the return, but it gave us Mathews instead of Alex Nylander. I mean Sergchev was around then too, but all you end up getting for him is Drouin and a spit in the face.

eating 28 million dollars is a lot. I don't think the habs do this, not because the value isn't fair, but just because, 28 million is a lot. Maybe have them eat 1.87 or whatever it takes to get the cap hit down to 6 for that same package.

BOY I ain't paying 3,500,000 for the next 8 years just to say bye to weber and we get a cap dump an ahl goalie a 3rd liner and a pick in the 20s!

And we will draft that low anyway

So you’ll pay 8 million for the next 8 years to finish in mediocrity? If he’s healthy half the year and Price is Price again.. we’ll yoire still way better then Ottawa at least.
At least this way you essentially pay Zeitzev 8 mil a year, and get a Dman whose 6 years younger. Plus some valuable assets. Kapanen is unreal, and is gonna be a star, might be the best forward in your squad in year one.

LMFAO You honestly put Weber in the opening night lineup, When he's expected to miss the first half of the season. Get real let's be realistic here. Trading for Weber makes absolutely zero sense.

Jesus, obviously he’s not in the opening day line up, but that would be the lineup when he’s back. I would happily take Shea Weber for 4 mil a season, I’d still be happy 7 years from now when he’s 40 on the bottom pairing at 4 mil.
Makes tons of sense.

And I'd happily say that is not happening because no one in their right mind is retaining that much and getting scraps in return!
