I know I'm overpaying here but what would it take to pry Dumba and Greenway out. I'm adding to the Calgary heritage of fighting hockey as we just lost Ferland, won't have Glass anymore as well. Other than Mike Smith, Neal, And Tkachuk our players don't hold the toughness to win the Cup. In other words, I'm building an identity to this team while solving a need we lost by trading Hamilton,

I don't think there's really anything Calgary could give to get Dumba and Greenway. Maybe Tkachuk, but even he doesn't fill our needs (which are a right shot top 6 forward and a promising goalie prospect). The only way we'd trade Dumba is for a young stud right shot forward like Nylander, Point, Konecny, etc. Calgary doesn't fit the bill there. Dumba is a great fit for Calgary, though.

I did not want to see Ferlie go either but please remember he scored like 1 goal in the last 28 games and wasn’t exactly throwing his weight atound during the layter 1/2 of the season. And Hamilton was the teams biggest marshmallow- super soft - I for one don’t think he will be missed that much. Paying a price this high for Burke like truculence Would set our already thin prospect ranks back 4 years.

Burke tried the whole truculence thing during his time in Toronto and it did not work out too well.

It almost like Brodie and Faulk should have been involved in the earlier trade

That’s what in thinking now as well. Carolina has Hamilton, Faulk and Pesce in the Right side, leaving Slavia as the only Lefty. Meanwhile Calgary got Lefties Gio, Hanifin and Brodie leaving Hamonic on the Right.

Hamilton was tough? Must have missed that game... LOL... And Buying out Stone??? Why so your team isn't under the cap? Stone is easily a 2nd pair d-man on most other teams... In-fact I will go 1 further... IMO Stone is better than Hamonic! Well he was last year...

The whole premise of this trade is ridiculous. you are stuck in a NHL from 2006. The best teams in the league are not the slow beat em up tough teams. they are fast young and skilled. players like ferland (who literally only had success because he played the majority of the season with johnny and mony) are not players that make or break a team. Hamilton was a great offensive defenseman but the man had the toughness and defensive hockey mindset of a three year old. he took terrible penalties and couldn't win a puck battle to save his life.

Vegas success last year is the perfect replica that teams should follow. frusturate the other team with speed skill and a refusal to escalate confrontations. just walk away let them take the penalties and then make them pay for it.

1 star for the ridiculous trade and justification

That is an absolutely ridiculous trade. Brodie plays RD better than LD and excelled at it in the past. Valimaki is our top prospect and has the potential into a do it all top 4 dman within 3 years. Dube was one of the last cuts from main camp last year. & also have a 1st round + Bennett for Greenway an unproven prospect who has potential but only played 11 games is way too much. I get Dumba is from Calgary and it would be cool for him to play here but there is so much ridiculous in this trade. Calgary would never make this deal. I would make this deal in a heartbeat if I was Minnesota.

If solving the RHD problem was so easy wouldn't Edmonton and Toronto figure it out already, Left handed means you play best with a lefty stick, unless I'm mistaken, I'm right handed and won't be able to even carry the puck if I was handed a left handed stick. Toronto would love playing Rielly on the RD if it was that easy to solve. Unless Brodie can play both hands, which would be a marvel for many teams to acquire, I didn't understand what you meant

I don't know if you're trying to sound like an idiot or are just plainly dumb. LD = left side d-man and RD = right side D-man. d-men can play both sides wow

I’ll thank you for letting me know that, cause every time I go on hockey DB to check what side a defenceman plays at, it’s associated with their handedness. Right handed players play the right side while left handed players play the left side. Also,
Can you name me defenceman who are left handed and play in the right side or vice versa.

You have never actually played hockey hey. Brodie, Daley, Hjalmarsson, Schmidt, Gostisbehere, Phaneuf did for years & I believe Hainsey plays RD in Toronto as a pair with Rielly as the LD, etc. Its literally an every day thing as most teams don't have an even amount of LD to RD such as Toronto. The same as forwards who play the off wing. Shanahan, Ovechkin, Frolik, Kovalchuk, F. Forsberg, Tarasenko, Perron, Neal, Kucherov, Hyman. etc.

Good?
