As a canucks fan i would do this because we wouldn’t be giving any of our key 5 (pettersson, hughes, horvat, demko, and boeser).

VAN GM has said no deal, added Dahlen to that list as untouchable. Not sure you can get Karlsson direct without one of Pettersson, Hughes, or Demko being part of the deal.
Probably the right value on Karlsson if the GM was willing

sorry but dahlen isn’t in the same boat at pettersson, boeser, horvat, hughes and demko. he’s good but not top top end prospect. And it’s erik karlsson we’re getting in return here so we’re gonna have to give good prospects like dahlen up if the trade is gonna go thru

And I think the argument could be made Dahlin could be a 1 or 2C
And Juolevi was drafted as a top pair D if you give up Tanev then Ottawa replaces that roster spot and can probably get another first in a trade so you are giving them a 1st 2nd in a deep draft a top pair D and a potential 2nd line center. Vancouver keeps all of their great pieces and now has a leader captain and definative best player. Rolling out Pettersson Boeser Hughes and Demko with Karlsson is similar to what Tavares will do with the Leafs. I really think this would work, but obviously only if he wants the extension. For how laughable Ottawa is they probably won't even get this haul and this is with getting rid of the stupid Ryan contract. If he isn't involved maybe you flip Juolevi with Hughes for just lightly higher end talent.

How does having Karlsson for this season really help. the Canucks that much? Look how successful Ottawa was last year with Karlsson, Stone and Hoffman. It's really dumb for just a non playoff team to even think about trading for EK. Maybe a contending team who think he will put them over the top.
