After trade. Opinion on that.

Description
This is suprisingly very fair trade! Bergevin did well. Patience wins.. Vegas got their man. He is going to score 40 trust me on that.. With Stastny it would be a deadly combo hopefully.. I wonder what the extension would be tho. MTL got 25-30 goal scorer who is very good puck handler and good defensively, young playmaker C prospect who might be top-6 C sooner than later and 2nd.. bravo Vegas and Montreal!

My only concern for Vegas, and especially McPhee, is that Vegas gave up a pile of picks (2018 1st (Joe Veleno), 2019 2nd and 2021 3rd) for Tatar, only to later deal that plus another 2nd and Suzuki to Montreal for Patches, who is coming without an extension at this point, so for McPhee's sake I hope Vegas does well this season or they get that extension done quickly, because there'll be hell to pay for McPhee if Patches walks.

Based on this deal alone it's great for both teams! Yet Vegas is in a spot now with the factors stated above.

That bottom 6 doesn’t look like a cup winning bottom 6 tho.

I'm happy for Montreal and Vegas as well. 3 stud C prospects in our pipeline makes me all warm inside, and I get to see this Pacioretty situation resolved, and maybe see him hunt for a cup. Today is a good day.

The thing with this trade is, that in the eyes of UFAs, they just became an even more desirable destination. Next year's UFA class is looking SOLID. Duchene, Karlsson, Stone, Panarin and there's still a possibility for now that Skinner and Seguin will be there.

That’s IF they:
a) actually keep Patches
b) treat him well
c) do well this season

I don’t see b and c being issues at the moment, but IMO keeping Patches long term is priority #1 for VGK before next offseason for your point to work out.

No state income tax don’t hurt, especially coming from a Canadian team and the relative obscurity away from the rink probably don’t hurt either, will be interesting if they can put a few contender years together how many free agents kick the tires

A. Seems like fans of both teams are celebrating, so value seems fair.
B. That being said, anyone proposing this trade yesterday would have been mocked.
C. I got $5 says Tatar’s not a Hab by the end of next season. Any takers? smile
