Leafs I am sure would want Manson instead because he fits the mold more of what they do not have. Try and make something work there.

Does Silverberg come with a reasonable extension? I feel as though Larsson would need to be included in this from the Ducks regardless.

We can afford to let him walk. To be honest I think they should. The Leafs bottom six was anyones game this pre-season. You let Silverberg walk and sign Levio to a 2 year 2mill. Or you bring up any of the prospects that played well in the preseason. Its taking on a contract to make a deal work, not so much bringing in a player to keep.

Doesn’t work for ducks cap next year....I like the idea of Manson or montour. To be honest if shipped 2 cheaper players like Hyman and brown it could help with the cap next season but they are in trouble... they need to get rid of some salary not take any on.

It can be affortable imo. They can do it. I made a post about it. Squeezed it in somehow but GMs are smarter than me so it would get done. But I agree it would be hard.

I don't know that bringing back silfverberg will allow the leafs to re-sign Mathews and Marner. Trading away Zaitsev may also hurt our depth on defense. It seems more and more likely each day that a Nylander trade is a possibility. At this point isn't the cap relief a benefit as well? What about Manson for the rights to Nylander straight across?

I think the ducks can afford Nylander on $6 million bridge deal. Perry might retire by the time that bridge deal is up. Back to win-win?

I think that if Leafs trade for RHD it would be an upgrade over current RHD meaning that Zaitsev would go the other way. We have depth, we just need upgrade. The trade I suggested would mean that other team would upgrade on offence with Nylander and we would downgrade from Nylander to Silfverberg (who is still definitely a great top-6 forward, similar stylisticly to Willy) but upgrade from Nikita Zaitsev to Josh Manson. And the other team wouldnt lose positional depth.

Lindholm is one of the better Defensemen in league on a long term friendly contract! Why would the leafs not want him?!?

We have Reilly, Gardiner, dermott and Rosen and Sandin.. lindholm is good but it is not an area our team needs to address.

It's the only area your team needs to address.

Realistically, you have Reilly and that's it

For sure that would be a better deal. It would make sense. I’m pretty happy with the way our defence is heading and don’t think we should be moving anyone right now. A RHD would be the only position that the leafs would entertain though.

Ducks cannot afford nylander even on the 6.5m long term deal he will get from the leafs. Can’t trade away and sign a guy on a what if...

We have gardiner dermott and Rosen as well the right side is a bit weaker but to be honest I’m pretty optimistic about them too. Next season we will have liljegren on the right side with ozhiganov and zaitsev and Reilly, dermott and either Rosen or sandin. We have been drafting defencemen very effectively over the past few years.

What are you talking about? Gardiner, Zaitsev, Dermott and Rosen are terrible. Sandin is atlease 3 years out before cracking the NHL. Ozhiganov wasn't even been that good in the KHL, what makes you say he'll be good in the NHL? Liljegren is a mystery. And then you have Reilly who is Legit. And you're saying the Leafs don't need a D?

Lindholm would instantly become your second best D on a super friendly contract (which makes him even more valuable for a team who's going to have cap issues in the next couple years).

    Don't be delusional.

This is what I am talking about. Nylander will be too expensive for the Leafs. The Ducks could fit him in on a short term, more expensive bridge deal that the leafs are unwilling to give. The ducks could clear some space for nylanders next contract in the meantime.

Darren Dreger was talking about Gardner commanding almost $7 million on the open market. That's a joke. Hampus Lindholm is an upgrade on every single D the leafs have. Bottom first round D picks don't have a lot of upside. This is about spreading out the leafs money. Two elite centres, an elite winger, and a star dman. Very much like the Penguins model.

YES! Exactly. The leafs have all the tools. They just need a stud Dman.

Really good offense makes it fun during the season (lots of goals, lots of wins, etc)

But isnt really sustainable in the playoffs.
