I like the Avs ATM. The only thing they need is a top6 forward (Stone), who can put up 50-60 points.

Their D looks solid and with Timmins coming up at some point, they're pretty bolstered at the blue line.

Interesting idea with this team, it would be pretty scary to play against them. top6 is stacked with offensive upside and potential.

Jack Hughes getting drafted by the Avs with the Ottawa 1st would be both ridiculous and unreal, as far as a future lineup goes. I don't see Duchene ever playing for a Joe Sakic-managed team again, and I don't see him ever voluntarily agreeing to go back to the Avs. So yeah, calling it a long shot might actually not be the best way to phrase it - it will simply never happen.

If Duchene was willing to eat some crow and check his desire to be the 1C at the door, that would be so fun to have him back

Stone as a UFA would be so perfect for this team...personally I would rather take Kevin Hayes over Duchene as a Top 6 UFA target..or Jakob Silfverberg you roll out a top 9 with Hughes

Wouldn't it just be the ultimate slap in the face to lose Duchene back to the Avs (if he and the team can bury the hatchet and not in each others heads) plus Stone plus Hughes with the first. It would possibly be the worst loss in a trade ever. Lines etc need shuffling around but be terrifying for other teams to face. With that kind of cap space and how he's playing if he stays fit and healthy I'd still look at trying to bring Varly back for a bit. Niemi is unnecessary whatever way if Francouz looks good enough, and then you have multiple goalie options. I'm still not sold on Grubauer so that kind of colours my opinion.
