Hughes Makar Stone and Duchene
Yeah this could be a pretty sick team.
I like the Avs ATM. The only thing they need is a top6 forward (Stone), who can put up 50-60 points.
Their D looks solid and with Timmins coming up at some point, they're pretty bolstered at the blue line.
Interesting idea with this team, it would be pretty scary to play against them. top6 is stacked with offensive upside and potential.

Is this good for 1-to-1 trade
Depends.
Marchand is getting older but his contract is one thing of a beauty.
Rantanen will seek above +7mil. for the next 6-7-8 years.
I don't think either teams would make this trade, but interesting idea.

Hes not a good goalie guys, sorry but his time has passed. He was a above average back up back then now he is a below average back up. You dont have to burn a roster spot and playing time away from someone for no reason</div></div>
I'm not saying he should back somebody up in the NHL. I'm just trying to reason, that the guy actually put up some decent numbers on a team that's not even near a team like Nashville.
Also, with so many other backups in the show this year, he should probably head to Europe and try out his luck. With his frame and skills he could easily split time with another goalie in SHL, KHL, NLA, Liiga.

It's a pitty he left Avs.
As a backup for the Avs he played 16 games with 93,2 in 14/15, and in 15/16 he played 20 games with 92,2.
For a backup, I would say that's pretty fine numbers. Saros played 21/26 games with the Predators and posted 92,3 and 92,5 and that's with a much better D-core than the Avs.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>coga16</b></div><div>Love Picks but there is 0 Need for him.
He was a below average back up and I like what Francouz has shown over Pickard. Love-able character but his days are done as a NHL back up</div></div>

5-0-1 in Pre-Season
Pretty decent preseason.
This team looks very good and I believe already this season we'll see significant improvement from the kids.
Although I trust the Canes to ship Faulk out of there, which will hurt the team defensively, they have a bright future ahead of them. Aho is going to fire up the wheels and with those silky mitts he's gonna be one hell of a player for them.

Opening Night Lineup Prediction amp Analysis
Cheers to your very detailed description of the Avs.
I'd like to see Andrighetto on the 2. line as well. That line could be flying out there with all three having some nice wheels to their game.
I really think Girard is going to fire up this season. 15 pounds heavier and hopefully still as agile and with the same level of flair for the game, I really believe that he could be a reliable offensive D, who could play a solid 18-20 min. a game.
I hope to see Kerfoot and Jost level up their game as they gained a full season of experience. I like Jost in the middle with his speed and Kerfoot with his creativity on the wing. Wilson could be usefull with his gritty game and make room for Kerfoot and Jost.
I really like the Avs this year and looking forward to see how everything goes.
For the goaltending part I think Varly is the no.1 go-to guy to start out with. We all know he's prone to injuries, so maybe giving him 45-55 starts and Gruby takes the rest. Would keep both of them healthy through out the season and both of them fresh for PO if that happens.

Duchene
I like where this is going.
The only issue Carolina is going to get is, that they've got Aho, Duchene, Teravainen, Fleury and Ferland to resign - with "only" 16 mil. to do that.
Aho is aiming for +6-7 mil. and so is Duchene. That leaves 4-6 mil. for the rest.
Interesting idea!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ON3M4N</b></div><div>After this season (which this mock is) Backes goes from a NMC to a NTC. Even still I imagine that ARZ would be on his list of teams he can't be traded to. I could maybe see them as a middle man though. They'd retaining maybe a few million in cap space for two season and get assets from BOS and Backes final destination.
As for the OP:
Panarin is going to want 9+ million easy, not to mention Boston doesn't seem to be one of his preferred destination. On Donato, at $1.4 mil (depending on how this season goes) its a 1-year deal.</div></div>
Thanks for your comment, appreciate it.
Didn't know about Backes NTC. Thanks! Could be dealt for assets as you recommend.
Panarin is going to ask for big bucks, that's for sure. This was just a goofy play-around-with-the-B's. Where do you see Panarin? Could be fun to see him in Tampa with Kucherov. Would make TBL deal core players though to get him to fit under the current cap.

Trade it
I like it!
Gardiner and Carrick could solidify VGKs defence and adding Nylander would only make them even better.
I think (correct me if I'm wrong) that Nylander is the bait in this situation regarding to be able to sign him to a longterm contract.
IMHO it really depends on how Kapanen will do this season. If he breaks out and puts up solid points (45-55) this could be an awesome deal for both sides. Plus, getting Brännström, who should bolster TOR defence would be relevant and important as well. What TOR still needs is an RHD.

TOR how about this
I see where you are going with this and I like it.
Having the kids (Timmins, Makar, Meloche) coming up this and the following year, I would actually prefer to trade Barrie. I know he's not the player TOR are targeting to play 25 min. of solid defensive/offensive hockey, but if TOR are trading away any other key asset to get a hold of Barrie and resign him to a team-friendly contract, they would be scary from one end to the other.

I wonder why Pickard isn't traded yet. The guy could easily be a backup for a team who needed the guy to play 15-20 games.
Getting Nylander to sign for under 7mil.?
I think he's aiming for 7+. Time will tell, I guess.

You didn't sell them short. The guys you mentioned did a good job, but adding Faulk would bolster their blueline a lot. Having him playing 25 minutes a night would be great for them.

I've tried these trades myself a couple of times. They makes sense.
I'd love to see Simmonds in Colorado. Also, with Gruby getting a workload as nr. 1 in near future and Francouz/Neuvirth could work out IMO.
No flipping deals for Nylander. Let that kid get dealt somewhere else to!
