2018 boston bruins

Initial Creation Date: Oct. 27, 2018

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
We are lacking goal scoring. Remember, this is not to push for a cup this year, but for next year. Some prospects will step up by the end of this year and we could choose who stays and who leaves. But for now, we could use goal scoring and Vatrano is the guy I say we go for. Yes he has one year left on that contract but a RFA could make him resign. Heinen on the 4th line does no good in my belief but from game to game, we switch line ups so he doesn't stay down there every game. Overall, I think this team will develop into a better team next year and push for the cup. We also could be looking at Backes in LTIR soon with his concussion issues. That will give us the cap to get the young guys to 3/4 year contracts for us to get rid of contracts such as the Krejci contract and Bergeron's contract as they won't want as much. This is the best way to get to the cup, especially avoiding the sophomore surge that might happen this year to a good amount of the team.

Trades
BOS
  1. Vatrano, Frank
  2. 2020 6th round pick (FLA)
FLA
  1. Gabrielle, Jesse
  2. Hughes, Cameron
  3. 2019 6th round pick (BOS)
  4. 2020 4th round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
Might seem weird. It could look back on us trading back for a player who we traded away but this solves a big issue, goal scoring. Other than our first line, our goal scoring has been a big issue. The 2, 3, and 4 line has scored 9 goals with some on the PP (DK playing on PP 1 with that first line). Vatrano is an exact sniper which can score goals with 3 goals in 7 games, a lot better than most of our young core. We also are playing a bit to get rid of Gabrielle's roaster spot in order to get that out of the way to maybe save spots for more players.

Vatrano isn't a very good Hockey Player imo. The only thing he can do at a level above average is shoot the puck. I see him as more of a niche type player like Ryan Spooner was and I think we'd be a better team to avoid having those type of players that can really only do 1 thing well.

I agree on that point. Yet, scoring is an issue, we can part ways with him after we solved the problem but for now, I think we get him back and get the goal scoring depth through. I am not saying he will stay for long, but we need that solid 3rd line scr on our team to get the biggest problem out of the way. After that, the next biggest problem is injuries. I think it is a better idea to go for Vatrano and send him away after 2/3 years with him.

There is a reason we let him go. I wouldn’t trade Hughes straight up for him.

I love it when people are like "they won't want as much" tears of joy Go tell the owner not to want as much.

I don't even know why you look at it as in sign they young guys. They are playing now and frankly not producing. At this rate they won't cost you anything because most of them will either be in the AHL or gone. If this group of young players can't actually score there is no reason to either pay them or play them. The amount of time to prove yourself in the NHL is slim if you get decent ice time.
There is always someone looking to take your spot. You got to **** or get off the pot. Can't keep hanging on to players who aren't contributing and burdening down the 1st line. My suggestion on some of them would be to sell high why you can. A full year of this and they won't have a trade value.
