Ya, would be nice.

Problem is finances. They struggle to break even. They have to keep payroll is low as possible to do it. Last year was the first time they turned a profit in a season where they missed the playoffs. And they did it while playing to 50% capacity. 16m in expansion fees helped. $$$ just isn’t there.

Hopefully their success and energy this season will help boost things. Takes money to make money... some upgrades for a playoff push could be helpful.

Dundon bought the team last year from Karmanos, Karmanos wanted to keep the payroll down Dundon doesn’t mind spending. This is why he’s said he’s gonna let Aho say what he wants get him to sign here, here and intitla here on that amount, he doesn’t mind splashing it out.

Lol, nobody likes to lose $$. Nobody. They kept payroll down because they had to not by choice. He might go a couple a years of it thinking it will turn around...it will get old quick. Teams can’t operate losing $$ year after year, eventually they fold, relocate or sell to another sucker who think they can do better.

I know they're just rentals at this point, but those are top-line producers from OTT and you're not giving up much of anything. An AHLer, a decent prospect, and a few lotto tickets for both of OTT's biggest deadline pieces. I know you can say "LOL but Dorion", but it's gonna have to be more than that IMO.

Agreed. Every trade proposal that has 4,5,6,7 rounders should just have those removed. At the trade floor they hold more value then mid season. That's a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Roy and Bishop for two 1st line players. Vegas paid 1st, 2nd, 3rd for Tatar, alone. And he isn't even nearly as good as Stone. Look at what Rick Nash, a 34 year old got last year. Pacioretty got Suzuki, 2nd and Tatar so Stone AND Duchene........ a lot more

Top prospect + 1st + roster player for both guys together. MINIMUM. .......come on @Caniac2000

Duchene is no better then Staal, and neither are first line quality, Hell the only reason he's in this deal is because irl Rask is hurt. Stone fair comment, but nah Duchene isn't a first liner, Ottawa are a rebuilding team and look at some of the guys in the NHL drafed 4=7 round, Datsuyk, Zetterberg, Pesce was a 4th rounder, Freddy andersen was a 7th and a 4th (drafted twice) there's a lot of good players you can get with these pick, they hold value.
