Ristolainen hits and shoots a lot, but gives up a lot of shots against. High event player. Buffalo likely misses the playoffs without him this year, just by toi.
His youth keeps Tor good for a while, but his inexperience doesn't make them much more likely to hoist for a bit.

So badly, he has hung his goalies out to dry so much they have the lowest save percentage in the NHL when he's on the ice over the past 3 years. Faulk is second worst.

That is correct, Babs flew to Russia to personally recruit him. He has said he would only come over to play for the leafs. He just got his wife and son moved in to Toronto after a lengthy visa process. So trading him would just be a dirty move... especially with his trade value being what it is.

Ristolainen at least has the excuse of way too much ice time for his age.
