Shattenkirk is not worse than Johnson that's ridiculous, if he went to the Penguins he would put up similar offensive stats to his great years in St Louis and his short stint is Washington

Jack Johnson has had one season in his career where he put up 50% shot metrics... Shattenkirk has a history of creating much more offense while hes on the ice and the idea that he's terrible at actual defense is unfounded. Yeah he's not the best but he's certainly not terrible. You don't play in the NHL for 10 some seasons while being Terrible at defense

So we are clear he has 5 points in 17 games ( 3poweray points) as a caps fan I hope they get him bc this makes the penguins so much worse.

You do when you are hiding beside a nhl top 10 defensive defenseman. When he left the blue he struggled to play bottom pairing minutes. Then went to the rangers and struggled there.... so yeah playing with PIETRANGELO made him look a lot better than he actually is.

Johnson @3.3 is a steal compared to Shattenkirk @6.7.

Plus, Johnson is not going to be traded. I just feel that there was something really odd with that signing and even though there is no NTC/NMC there was a "handshake". I do not think that Johnson will be moved while Rutherford is GM.

Shattenkirk wouldn't make schultz expendable. Schultz is a all around dman. Shattenkirk is pretty much a younger mike green. He was good on teams that had a really deep blueline. He can run the powerplay but the pens already have players that can do that. If we trade for a defensman it has to be a solid one. Not one that happens to be righty but has a pattern of defensive slumps.
