FYI - There is a discussion section where you can post questions and things like this. The mods will just move this thread there if you don't actually make an AGM with trades and line changes etc.

Same usual suspects ferland mcginn foegele. I really do think if we were to trade with hurricanes it would be ferland and pesce. Ferland may be to expensive next season for the Carolina budgetvwith TT, Aho and nylander. He is exactly the guy Toronto needs.

If you listen to Button and McKenzie at TSN, both said the Leafs asking price starts with Slavin. Which I know Carolina fans are going to lose their minds over but really which team is desperate? The one that has control of a highly skilled offensive player or the team with a deep defense but lacks scoring and has missed the playoffs for the past 9 seasons? If I am Dubas, I'm not letting Carolina dictate the negotiations, the Leafs don't need to make a move, so unless it makes sense you just don't do it.

Yup, but I don’t think they move slavin.

Take away Aho and Slavin is literally the face of the franchise. If they move him i would be confused and furious at the same time. As much as I want Nylander on the canes, id love to keep Slavin even more.

Leafs should trade Nylander liljgren for Svesh Pesce. I assume canes fans say Svesh is off limits but he hasn’t set the world on fire (not that he needs too as a rookie) but they are getting a proven Star who is likely as good as Aho.

According to Cane fans pretty much everyone is off limits and the value of each player is extremely high. Which is a bit strange considering they are currently trending towards missing the playoffs for the 10th straight year.

When a team is in danger of missing the playoffs for the 10th year in a row and is desperate for scoring, do you think they are the ones to underpay or overpay?

Then I think the Leafs just keep pushing to sign Nylander and get him on a 2 year bridge deal.

They can easily overpay without giving up Slavin.

Only if you are undervaluing Nylander. If it isn't Slavin then Pesce and a sizeable piece as well. A high end prospect with potential to be a top line player. Not Zykov and the other 22 year old prospects that can't make the Canes full time.

Getting Nylander is going to hurt. Fans can talk him down all they want but the fact is Carolina just doesn't score enough and they have a huge need for scoring help. Toronto is a team that has a want for defence and a player that isn't under contract but the team controls for 4 years or so. So they can make him sit and hold his rights until he decides playing is more important than making huge money immediately or until someone gives the Leafs an offer they can't refuse. Trading him for pennies on the dollar just because some people think that is better than having him not play is just short sighted and dumb. Dubas clearly isn't short sighted.

How many years of no playoffs before you guys bend on this? Nylander is right there with Aho and Teuvo. Would you trade Aho for Pesce and some minor asset that looks like a bottom 6 forward?

No because we dont need defense.. But yes I would take that if we are absolutely stacked on Offence and have elite players like Matthews and Tavares
