Question about the blue line

Created by: Caniac2000

Description
Logan Oliver seems to think this blue line is less then elite.

Is it unfair to say Slavin is a top 10 D man league wide, Hamilton top 20, Faulk and Pesce top 30?

IMO Slavin and Hamilton are top 20 and Pesce and Faulk probably top 60. Its still a really good group where each guy brings something different to the table, but I think you're overeating them a little bit.

Faulk is higher then that.... Pesce idrc, Faulk is an offensive dynamo, he's been amazing in his own end and he's a god transitionally.... Pesce is elite in his own end.... Personally I can't think of 40 better d men then Faulk and Pesce let alone 59+

2017-2018 Faulk was top 60. 2018-2019 Faulk is top 40. If Faulk can start putting up better numbers on the PP, there's no reason why he isn't top 25-20 in the league.

He's insane right now. His point totals need to increase yes but he's been a GOD in his own end, he has more saves this season then Darling....

So with 31 teams, that makes 62 top pairing defensemen and Carolina has 4 among the top 60? You may be correct, but it seems rather strange with that many top pairing defensemen, one would think the team would be doing better.

I know you will knock me down, but you are telling me that Carolina has 4 #1 defensemen? It would seem to me that their record would be much better if this was the case.

I know I will get a lot of push back on this but you said: "Is it unfair to say Slavin is a top 10 D man league wide, Hamilton top 20, Faulk and Pesce top 30?" Since there are 31 teams in the NHL Carolina has 4 among the top 30 in the entire NHL that means they much have 4 #1 defensemen? I think that the capitals of 85-6 had 4 top defensemen Rod Langway, Kevin Hatcher, Scott Stevens, and Larry Murphy.
This may help you all find defensemen better than Slavin: https://www.nhl.com/news/top-20-defensemen-nhl-top-players-2018-19/c-299726154
I know this is fantasy Hockey but this may shed some light on the subject: https://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-fantasy-hockey-best-line-rankings-forward-combos-week-8/c-302760070
And finally this. if Carolina actually had 4 top 60 defensemen why would they be ranked eight? does that mean each of the 7 teams above them have 5 top 60 defensemen?
Sorry to piss in your Wheaties, but come on down to earth my friends.

You seem to forget Ottawa Detroit Florida NJD NYI NYR all exist and don't have that no 1 D man. They have some talented players but not no1 guys. Slavin is top 20 if not top 10 thats not debatable. Hamilton is an offensive god and has shown it so far, despite the fact his point totals are down. Pesce has been injured so take stats with a grain of salt but he's scored since coming back and he's got 3 goals on the year, Faulk is having a career year, he gets lost in the heap of guys Carolina have back there, but his point totals are back to normal, his Defence is back to normal he's still a god in transition... it's not that they're all no 1 guys. Slavin and Hamilton are no 1 guys, Faulk may be when he's playing like this but I do get what you mean
