There is no one player we have that they'd do a 1 vs 1 deal for that we'd accept. The only way we can offer them something is if they want to get as little cap space back as possible and get picks and prospects in return.

Wild need a scoring right shot forward. Can be a winger or center, as long as they're right shot. Habs have 3 guys that fit the bill: Gallagher, Suzuki, and Armia. There's absolutely no way Montreal trades Gallagher, so he's off the table. I could see Montreal moving Suzuki if we included Brodin, but I'm not sure Seeler is ready to step into a top 4 role. So Suzuki is sort of too complicated. That leaves Armia, who is a downgrade from Coyle offensively and leaves us in a worse spot than we already were. I just don't see the fit for Montreal as a trade partner since you have pretty much the same problem as us: too many left shot forwards.

What if we do Armia, Hudon, and a pick would that sweeten the deal for Coyle?

I just can't see it. The Wild need a scoring right shot winger. We have so many LW's that Nino and Granlund are forced to play the left side and adding Hudon makes that problem even worse. I don't hate Armia but he's a significant downgrade to Coyle offensively, which makes our scoring issue even worse.

minny wants a defensive center. danault is the prime candiate. this was on tsn, sprotsnet and the athletic. they also want to move on from coyle, but minny doesnt have an advantage in terms of trading with mtl, cause mtl has centers. both teams also have trade history. minny wants a center cause after the loss of koivu, they realized how deperately they need a defensive centermen

It's not just a defensive center, but a center in general. It's not just the loss of Koivu, they don't have any center prospects worth anything anywhere.

Poehling is what I see MN targeting. MTL fans hate this, but he's in his Jr year now. If he isn't looking to sign after the college season is over this year it opens the window for moving him.
-*note: I had the same concerns about Greenway (Jr) and Belpedio (Sr) last season as a Wild fan; and I'm still wondering about if Kaprizov ever coming over from the KHL.

Danault would be fine coming back to MN, but they'll have to pay more than just Coyle for him. Shaw could work too, but I'm not a fan of his contract, and he's having a better year this year.

Don’t see the fit with MTL honestly as trade partners. Sure Habs are interested in Coyle, but whatever MIN would want I doubt Habs would have any interest in moving.

Best partner, I hate to say it, is most likely BOS... Forsbacka-Karlsson (being a right shooting C) would a good fit for MIN, and Coyle is from Massachusetts, something I bet the Bruins would like getting a hometown guy. Or if BOS would retain salary or take a bad contract back, Backes could fit as well.

Coyle IMO does not warrant two top 9 roster players . He's got potential but Byron is easily the most underrated player on the Habs and is virtually untouchaable in terms of what a team should be willing to pay for a player like him. Danault is very good 3rd line center who plays up in our lineup and heavy minutes too and Lehkonen is a cheap cost controlled top 9 whose very reliable defensively.

One of those guys plus maybe something else in some cases, but definitely not two of them. Coyle has not done enough for me to lose two roster players for.

That's the trade I've been thinking is the best fit: Coyle for JFK. Backes would need about half retained, and then it's not worth it to Bos; his contract is just ugly.

I didn't think Danault would be on the table for Coyle. He's not a perfect fit being a LHS, but center is a position of need for MN (even before Koivu was injured).

Fair enough, Not sure the team with also a need for centers is the right fit then. Habs have abundance in the form of Picks, cap space and 3rd-4th line wingers/ 5th-6th dman in any potential trade.

centers and RHS top-9 FWDs are the glaring need for the team. Coyle has been the only top-9 RHS FWD on the team this year, so trading him for another LHS doesn't make any sense unless it's a a real 3C coming back. Poehling is the only MTL prospect (and MTL is loath to give him up) I have much interest in that would fall in Coyle's value range (imo).

Danault could work, but I don't see why MTL would downgrade from him to Coyle. Taking back random tweener/waiver fodder players, like I see in a lot of these trades, doesn't make sense for MN. They would just be better off keeping Coyle.

Is MTL playing Pokemon with MN's LD's? If they got Brodin, would they go after Scandella or Suter next?
