MAPLE LEAFS 2018-19

Created by: LeafedIn
Team: 2018-19 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 21, 2018
Published: Dec. 22, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I would instead rent, rather than sell off first-round draft picks & defensive prospects (e.g. Liljegren & Sandin)
Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Simmonds, Wayne
  2. 2019 7th round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
Having Wayne Simmonds on a line with Nazem Kadri in the playoffs would be fun to watch - especially if Babcock was to play the matchup game more with other teams. Nothing like having two pests on a line together grinding out other players on the boards and creating mischief in front of the net.
PHI
  1. Grundström, Carl
  2. Zaitsev, Nikita
  3. 2019 2nd round pick (TOR)
  4. 2019 4th round pick (STL)
2.
TOR
  1. Lovejoy, Ben
  2. 2019 6th round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
A veteran who can defend and eat some hard minutes. Lovejoy would be a short-term rental and could help shut down opposing teams offensive cycle game and actually hit people.
NJD
  1. Brown, Connor
  2. Horton, Nathan
  3. 2019 4th round pick (TOR)
  4. 2019 5th round pick (TOR)
  5. 2020 3rd round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
I love Connor Brown. But Jersey will want a young player to put right in the lineup. Connor has shown that he is an easy player to coach and can move up and down the line if need be.

Lovejoy isn't better than zaitsev, he's actually worse to big price to pay for not needed simmons, thought I can understand his appeal this year

Both bad trades. Zaitsev is experienced and defensively sound and we will need both him and grundstrom next season. If brown gets traded it’s to save money not cost money.

.

Zaitsev + Brown are as good or better than Simmonds + Lovejoy. And you want to give them away for rentals....?

And also give away Grundstrom + 2nd + 3rd + 4th + 4th + 5th.

Lovejoy hits and is not soft on the boards. Let's see what else? Lovejoy is cheaper! #workonyourgrammar

Lol! Zaitsev is experienced and defensively sound? And Lovejoy isn't? What games have you been watching this year? That's right this trade is to save money because two talented players are going to eat up a lot of the cap space next year. Better to make more room now that come Jul 1st.

Bro! You are so wrong when it comes to comparing Brown to Simmonds. Ask yourself who's most likely going to be more physical and tenacious come playoffs when the Leafs face Boston or Tampa. Picks and a prospect (which the Leafs have many) are mearly a small price to pay if your team goes deep in the playoffs.

Simmonds has 14 points in 33 games. He's also 30 and weighs 180 pounds. No one is scared of him and none of his hits are game-changing.
