Description

Trying to think of what a Lucic trade would look like and this could be a decent option.

Ethan Bear is likely to get roster hopped by Bouchard leaving no space for him on the big club in Edmonton. Vancouver needs RHD prospects and both teams have players that need new homes. Edmonton could use another forward now that Caggulia has been traded for a defenceman.

Lucic has one more year on his contract which is a big deal compared to Eriksson, especially since Lucic is the lesser player. Compensation needs to go to Vancouver for those two reasons.. so here we go.

Canucks add Lucic to protect their young players and add a RHD prospect which they are short on due to Lucic being the worst player in the trade.

EDM

Additional Details:

Edmonton adds Forward depth after losing Drake for a defenseman. Eriksson is a far more useful all around player than Lucic and brings a solid defensive game with some secondary scoring, can play PP and PK. Gagner comes back to compensate for the extra year on Lucics contract and to fill the fwd spot lost by Caggulia. Can also play PP.

I approve of the Lucic for Eriksson swap idea, since I also posted that suggestion earlier today.

I agree and like this move. It makes sense for both teams. I actually think both players would suit both teams needs and styles of play better.

Ok so here is the thing with Vancouver getting Lucic, who goes to Seattle for him? He has a full NMC, that's an automatic protection from expansion so who's spot does he take in 2020, your throwing a young asset into the expansion draft by acquiring him.

Lucic would have to waive the NMC to go to Vancouver, it's then Vancouver's option whether or not he gets to keep the NMC going forward. I think they'd choose "not", therefore Lucic would not have to be protected at the expansion draft.

No way. Eriksson is better today than Lucic, double the points and 6 more goals. He also one more year on that contract. No thanks.
