Starting a Tarasenko Coversation

Created by: Cjeths
Team: 2018-19 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 19, 2019
Published: Jan. 19, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Ignore the salary implications for the time being. Just trying to start a conversation, not argue semantics.
Trades
STL
  1. Howden, Brett
  2. Pionk, Neal
Additional Details:
Is this enough to start a conversation with St. Louis?

I understand they're looking for young Centers and a younger NHL Dmen, so I figured this might be a good place to start.

What else goes back to St. Louis if this does get the talks started? Hayes with an extension? Kreider, DeAngelo, Hajek, Rykov, Lindgren, etc???

Gotta be a ton to move Tarasenko IMO. Think roster player, top prospect, and your lotto pick. Maybe Namestnikov, Kravtsov, 2019 NYR 1st.

The offer is so small that the blues don’t discuss further

Does not get them to return your call.

I don’t think they are going to be sellers anyway. They were built to win now and after stumbling badly are now only 4 pts out of a playoff spot with game(s) in hand on teams they are chasing and more talented than the teams they are chasing.

Agreed, too much talent on the Blues and good players on fair deals for them to blow it up/ tear I down. I think they'll more or less try and retool a bit and keep going with mostly what they got then rebuild the whole team.

thats a joke right mate? Kravtsov is the top prospect heading into 2019 looking what petterson did and he was the top prospect in 2018. Not to mention a top 10 pick has incredible value we are talking good starting goalie was given for 7th overall in schnieder and he had 5 great years for devils before the injury derailed him. This is a strong draft year no way you are getting near that return for taresenko who has been a good player but of late awful to whats expected of him. If NYR pick was involved it would be howden and 2019 pick otherwise id be fine walking away even then i dont want the 2019 pick moved for someone getting progressively worse as years roll by with a 7.5m hit for next 5 years while the prospect could be a top player for the next decade and more.

Found Craig Button heh. Tolvanen torched the KHL in his D+1 yr too and he isnt doing Pettersson things. Anyways, it's a fortune to pay because we're not moving him. The question was "what gets a conversation?" not what is fair value. Not sure how Tarasenko would fit with the Rangers anyway. Just finish the rebuild, it's looking good so far if yall can get another d-man to hit.

Agreed on the nyr dont need him for the rebuild which is why i want to stay away but Kravtsov has too much value currently dominating his age bracket in the KHL and showing his skill in the international tournaments until his untimely injury. NYR are putting a lot of pressure onto him and chytil to develop into star players and being part of the new core with that drives up his value if any team attempts for him.

Those 2 def have star potential. I like K'Andre too but I think the Rags are gonna need to find a no.1 on D. Skjei or Pionk ain't it and K'Andre and Lundkvist and the gang have some upside, but I just think they get real scary if they draft a gem on D.

K'Ander looks like the legitimate top 2 potential for them but i agree another would help thats why im hoping this year nyr sells properly with hayes and zucc and maybe find that gem in the rough hiding. Pionk has a good upside of a nice top 4 from the NCAA cant complain but skej has been disappointing so far but i think with the right partner he could turn it around.
