TBh the edmonton deal isnt that big of a longshot deal if ottawa's pick is top 3 but that nyr is horrendous getting 2 top 6 forwards for a top 9 a b tier prospect who looks like a bust and a c tier.

If McDavid went to the Avs they would have to give up one of MacKinnon or Rantanen, Makar plus all those firsts. Wouldn’t be worth it for the Avs to do it.

I was ready to laugh, but yeah, four first rounders, two this year, might be a top 3 pick....I'd want to wait til after the draft lottery if I'm Edmonton, and before if I'm Colorado, but this is probably it. The Best Option For Edmonton.

I would think Barrie would be added. Even Timmins. But everyone knows that mack and Rant and Makar arent getting traded. If Ottawa's pick is top 2 they get Hughes or Kakko which is a very nice building block and another mid first. They can flip barrie if they desire to get more picks/prospects. Jost is only 20 and so many people are writing him off. He should have never been brought up to the NHL so soon as he wasnt ready

Where the heck did you pull that Boston trade from. In case you haven’t gotten the memo they’re kind of set on goalies

Yes I think it's an honest deal for Edmonton. However, it's McDavid. He's clearly not happy and he's wasting his time in Edmonton but people don't want to trade a McDavid at all even if the return is pretty good.

On NYR: Buchnevich a top 6?! Since when? Maybe he has that potential but it's certainly not the way the Rangers are currently seeing it. Kerfoot is a top 6 under control (RFA) and he's better than Hayes. Puljujarvi has good potential and is still very young. Greer will be a solid top-9 winger. He's big and strong with a good shot. He never had a real chance in Colorado. He has a great season in the AHL this year. Any opinion is valid but I don't believe it's a bad trade for NYR.

Just to remind that Rask is actually concussed. We'll see after the all-star break but Boston will have to get a G if Rask still has his head in the fog.

McDavid would still require one of those top line players going back even with the 4 first rounders

Halak is fine for now. Rask might wind up not missing a game given that they have their bye week along with the all star break. His agent reported that he’s feeling fine and is day to day

I disagree. Even though it was the 80s, Edmonton didnt get top line talent for the greatest player in hockey history. I do think Makar would have to be included in the trade though.

in no time is kerfoot better than hayes. Hayes has 7 more points in 7 less games not to mention on a much worse team. Player TOI P/60 CF% Rel CF% GF% Rel GF% xGF% Rel xGF%
Kevin Hayes 535.62 2.46 50.61 7.54 60.87 20.3 56.21 12.81

Hayes 2.46 P/60 is in the top 40, his 20.3 Rel GF% is 11th in the NHL. Also, on a team with a horrid possession metric, he is over 50% and his team is 7.54% better when he's on the ice.
Even in underlying stats hayes dominates kerfoot.

Thats highly false. Jimmy Carson had 55 goals 107 points as a 19 Y/O with LA the year before the trade and was supposed to be one of the 90s elite scorers, Gelinas was the 7th OA in that '88 draft. Plus they got 15 million dollars, which i would equate to a top liner.

LA knew Carson had already reached his peak and wouldnt reach that level long term. Gelinas while a high draft pick but not an untouchable prospect. The 15 million dollars is whatever. That could never happen in today's game. But also keep in mind McDavid, while arguably the best player in the game, is not even close to the level Gretzky was, so it'll take less to acquire. I agree Makar at a minimum has to go back, Jost fits with the Gelinas part of the Gretzky trade.

As a 19 year old? Youre going to need a source because i have never heard that from anyone, and LA would have been wrong, because Carson produced in Edmonton, and in Detroit on the 3rd line. And if they were so convinced he was done, why would they trade to bring him back. It sounds like youre making stuff up to defend an already flimsy point, just to justify giving up less for the greastest player in this generation.
