And also you won’t get as good a return considering Duchene, Stone, Schenn, Panarin, Ferland, Tarasenko, Brassard, Hayes, Zuccarello, Kreider, Dzingel and others all might be available

I don't take Russo's speculation as anything more than what Wild fans think should happen on here. He has about 0 inside information since GMPF took over.

Russo is good for lines and stuff, but that is from watching the practices.

Actually, that's untrue about Russo. In that very same podcast he said he knew about the Rask trade over an hour before it happened but couldn't report it since Fenton wanted to tell Nino himself that he was traded but Nino was napping. He also said Fenton was looking to trade Nino earlier this year and viola! Nino was traded.

If I were the the Leafs, I'd be all over Zucker. Good shot and reliable defensive player to play on a line with Matthews and Nylander.. that being said, I would only offer this following deal if we found another defensemen first to fill the void:

To Toronto:
Jason Zucker

To Minnesota:
Nikita Zaitsev
Jeremy Bracco
1st or 2nd round pick

Bracco is almost a point per game in the AHL, and has really good offensive instincts as a playmaker. I hear a lot of Wild fans talk about how they need a right handed shot up front and Bracco is that. Could be NHL ready next year. Zaitsev is mainly in for cap reasons, but like I said, Leafs would have to find a dman to replace him first otherwise it makes no sense from Toronto's side. 1st or 2nd depends how much Zucker is valued in Minnesota, personally I'd be leaning towards a 2nd, but wouldn't be opposed to putting conditions on it to make it possibly a first of even a straight first of something else came with Zucker

I would be very interested in Granlund for COL but im not sure if it would work out since we are division rivals. Would MIN be looking for prospects and picks to rebuild or would they be looking for roster players? If a trade happens this offseason Granlund would only have 1 season left before he can go to UFA, so I think either there would have to be a pick conditional on resigning him or it would be a sign and trade. If you need right shot forwards maybe something based around Martin Kaut +?

COL gets: Granlund with an extension

MIN gets: Kaut, 2020 1st round pick top 10 protected, plus maybe a B/C prospect?

That's an interesting proposal! I do like Bracco, he fits the bill for what we need (even if he is a bit undersized). That said, I can't see us taking Zaitsev unless we traded a RD. We have Dumba, Spurgeon, Pateryn, Prosser, and Belpedio (prospect) at RD and we have Simon and Filip Johansson (no relation) as prospects. RD is probably our deepest position. I would be very interested in a deal like Zucker and Spurgeon (half retained) for Nylander and say Bracco, but I don't see the Leafs moving Nylander yet.

Fenton is too new as a GM to tell if he's willing to make intradivisional trades yet, but I do like that offer. Can you see Colorado giving up their own 1st this year since they have Ottawa's? I think Fenton would probably prefer a 1st this year rather than next, so that's why I ask. Kaut does interest me a lot. I'm not entirely familiar with Colorado's prospect pool but I think any B/C forward prospect would suffice.

I don't think we'd be very interested in Olofsson since we already have similar players in Rask and Eriksson Ek. Take away the top 10 protection and it's not a bad offer!

I do like Ylonen, I was hoping he would be one of our targets at the draft this year. So something like Ylonen, Fleury, 2019 MTL 1st for Granlund?

The year of the pick entirely depends on if COL can turn it around this year. Based on their performance recently it looks like they may drop significantly in the standings. If the pick ends up in the middle or latter half of the 1st round then I would gladly do 2019 1st + Kaut + Forward prospect for Granlund with an extension. If it is top 10 (or close to it) I would like COL to opt to keep it and send the 2020 pick

An hour before it happened doesn't count for much. I think it was more of a courtesy move by the Wild so Russo could work on getting an article together. How many Rask/Nino rumors were there before the deal happened? Any Car trade rumor with Nino was for Faulk.

Nino being traded somewhere for something was something most any fan could have called, just look at all the times Nino has been traded on this site. The same goes for Coyle, Staal, Spurgeon, Granny, and Zucker from now until the start of next season.

Granlund can't be extended until after July 1st, so it wouldn't work for this year's 1st (if that was a condition).

Russo called out Nino being traded well before he was rumored to be traded. This is the first time anybody has mentioned Granlund being moved. Over the summer Russo reported that we offered Ennis, Nino, and Zucker for Domi and Dvorak which nobody else knew about and it was confirmed that Arizona backed out of the trade. This was after Fenton was GM. Russo also mentioned in an earlier podcast that Fenton was trying to acquire Toffoli but the deal fell through. Nobody else reported that. So yes, Russo does speculate sometimes, but he still is a solid insider for information, even after Fenton has become GM.

Oh yeah my bad, I guess 2020 1st will have to do. Unless COL and Granlund verbally agree to a deal before then (which im not sure is even allowed and is very risky)

I had never heard anything about Toffoli to the Wild until he talked about it. Sure, people talked about moving Toffoli here since he's a right shot, but there wasn't any substance to it. He reported the Brad Hunt trade, so there's a point to it.
