Vancouver would not want to give up their 2019 first, probably their 2020 first as well.

You can get similar player who can score and is hard to play against in Connor Brown for cheaper (Goldobin) and dont waste picks.

From a Vancouver standpoint, there's no chance the 2019 1st rd pick is going the other way. Also, the Canucks are high on Gaudette, who has potential to grow into a top-flight 3C, we're talking bonafide 2C on a non-playoff team, but overqualified 3C on a contender so I find it hard to believe he would be available.

2020 1st MIGHT be negotiable, but I honestly don't see a fit between these two teams unless the Canes are willing to take a chance with Goldobin, and the teams can work something out from there.

Goldobin: 5 G 18 A (23 years old) RFA who likely ends with a similar or slightly cheaper deal.
Brown: 4 G 14 A (25 years old) $2.1 mil/through 2020

Don't see why Vancouver would even consider this?

My point is the rumors are Ferland to Vancouver- my point is what would the deal be? I struggled to figure it out.

Yeah, points.. 5 point difference while Brown has been playing bottom 6 role all the time. Goldobin top-6 role whole season either with Petersson or Horvat. And they are only 5 points from each other. Brown has likely more value because he brings more aspects into the game. Sure Goldobin is good passer an technician, but Brown is underrated defensive forward with a lot of speed and pk skill (which frankly, they might use as well). All in all Brown brings more to Vancouver than Goldobin to Leafs. Brown is a 20 goal scorer on Canucks in top-6 role. He played top-6 role his first year and was good producer. His 2.1 mil contract is very good for this type of forward, not overpayment, just about right. Its not about giving up salary from us. Its helping each other. Goldobin would fill nicely with Kadri and Brown would fill nicely in top-6 role on LW or RW it would depend. He can do both similarly well.

Brown's career high (which was when he was playing in that top 6 role) is 36 pts.

If the Canucks want to move Goldobin, they might as well do it in a package to get someone better than Brown. The upgrade just isn't significant enough.

Brown would be great on Canucks. I think they might do it but I get the point and kinda agree.
