Any trade for Ghost starts with a 1st Rd Pick. One of the better PP QB and Offensive Dman in the NHL. Plus he is on an extremely cap-friendly contract.

None of those pieces are even close enough to getting you Ghost, Start with your 2019 1st and add from there. That's atrocious for Philly.

Agree with that!! But Weise is a cap dump, you get lehkonen, a TOP6 prospect, but TOP9 right now, Rielly, a 3rd pairing defense and at best, a 2nd pairing, Peca a deepth foward and a 2nd pick

Maybe replaces Rielly by Jacob Olofsson or another prospect... not named: Brook, Ylonen, Ikonen, Primeau, Poehling, Romanov

But Flyers have zero need to dump Weise; we have ample cap space and if necessary can just buy him out. We also don't need a 3rd pairing Dman or depth forward. We have all that internally.

Thats legit a bunch of Montreals garbage stuck together with a 2nd for Gostisbehere. Weise has a year left and the Flyers look to be rebuilding so cap dumps dont help them

Couldn't agree more, That's very under-whelming offer for Ghost. Without their untouchables the Habs just don't have many enticing pieces to make offers.

Thats slightly more added for a much greater return. Simmonds will get at least a 1st if not a 1st and prospect. So 2 depth players and a cap dump for Gostisbehere. I think Philly declines

Of course they would thats skewed towards MTL

a trade for ghost starts with either domi/drouin or it takes some picks with poehling/suzuki.

it's closer than the scraps you're tossing out. And by scraps i mean

lehkonen - 23 year old 20-35 point producer.
peca - 25 year old 4th liner
reilly - 25 year old fringe nhler
2nd round pick - meh

if a leafs fan offered something similar like brown, gauthier, ozhiganov and a 2nd you would laugh at us. Based on the other responses in the thread saying MTL would take that in a heartbeat, you need to give your head a shake. If you want ghost the template is something like the jones/johansen trade or the hamilton/hanifin trade.

Yanp007, you have to stop this. Its embarrassing.

GHOST SCORED MORE POINTS IN ONE SEASON LAST YEAR THAN ANY PLAYER ON THE HABS CURRENTLY EVER DID IN ONE SEASON IN THEIR CAREER.

He is also a defenseman. Let that sink in for one second.

With that said, this has to stop too:

No, they are not scraps. Lehkonen is a legit solid player BUT that doesn't mean he is worth anything close to Ghost but we have to stop exaggerating also. If its not enough (and we all know it isn't), just say it isn't enough and say what it would take like some others have done. Calling every player that isn't good enough in a trade for a good player is only inciting fans to want to troll from that point on.

Lehkonen is a dime a dozen player. It maybe exaggerated a little, but hes not special and saying "a bunch of montreals garbage and a prospect and a depth defensman stuck together with a 2nd" doesnt roll off the tongue easier

context is key. Lehk is a useful player, but in regards to ghost, a useful player equals scrap, because the rest of the trade is hot garbage with a "look i evened out the trade" 2nd rounder tossed in.

If i'm creating a trade that involves trading lehk for someone like goldobin, kompher or kahun, i wouldnt call him scrap because that's fair value. Useful players all around, not game changers but similar age , production, control, etc.

Nope, he's not a dime a dozen player. If he was, teams would ever have problems with depth. No one said he is special. He is not a star player. He is, as previously mentioned, not a scrap player though.

Context is key. You are absolutely right. Lehkonen is no more "garbage" next to Ghost as Ghost is to Sidney Crosby..... any trade made that way would not have Ghost expressed as garbage. Just not good enough to get that player. See the difference?

Anyways you get what I'm saying, the terminology is misleading and it gets people who don't know better to think that all players like Lehkonen, goldobin, kompher or kahun are garbage players when they aren't. Can they be traded for superstars in return? Of course not. They don't have that kind of value as players but they do have value.. i:e not garbage.

"Good" bottom 6 players are not a dime a dozen. Yeah no one wants Josh Jooris but could he play a bottom 6 role? Sure. Is he really an NHL'er though? No. Can't compare Lehkonen to the Jooris's of the world. Lehkonen steps into any team in the league and is in their bottom 6 guaranteed.

So as I said before, he isn't a garbage player. He is a good player. His role is a top 9 player though and that type of player wouldn't get you Ghost in return. See the difference?
