Description

Assuming all of the UFA's re-up, the one drawback I see to this scheme is the impending expiration of Barzal and Pulock. Letting Martin go probably covers the later, but Barzal's anticipated big raise may be a problem on the horizon. Of course, Eberle may not re-sign on the Island.

Why would Lehner sign for that, could easily get double on the open market with the season he's having

Lehner isn't signing that and now you have no money the next off season to sign Barzal.

Also if Zaitsev plays over Toews we fire Trotz into the sun.

Lehner will get at least what Raanta got 3x4.25 million, probably more. Don’t sign Eberle for that much. He’s not worth it, he scorers a few goals now and then, but he doesn’t play defense and he won’t battle hard for pucks. If that’s what he asks for, just let him walk

Martin's $2.5M plus another $3M rise in the cap plus whatever is left over between what it will cost to sign a back-up goalie and the $1.8M you don't think Lehner will take should cover Barzal.

Eberle and Nelson are monstrously overpaid here. Give their raises to Lehner. Don't get me wrong, I'm content with how Eberle and Nelson are playing, but they need to be putting up 60-70 point seasons regularly if they want that kind of money.
