Kings pass, they'll want a 2nd round pick for Martinez, and the Pens don't have one of those to give up. If you want to include a 3rd instead, the prospect would have to be Hallander or Addison.

hard to say on Maatta.
It would help if we knew the injury not just a shoulder.
If 'ts an AC/SC issues vs a Separation.
Either way you are probably looking at roughly 4 weeks? if not longer.

Problem is he has a history of shoulder issues, not sure if it's the same one.
Once you dislocate a shoulder it gets easier every time because those tissues never return to normal. But you also have less pain because of it.

If Schultz is coming back I don't think they even make a move. If anything Maatta goes to IR and they open cap space.
Just glad it's not Letang or Dumo

Maatta was their third best defenseman(since Schultz was injured) but yeah the dropoff between the top pair and him is significant so could have been worse defenseman to lose. I cannot remember which shoulder he had injured a couple years ago, if its the same injury then it is even worse long term. I don't foresee them making a huge move to fill in for Maatta even if its longer term but would have been nice if they kept Oleksiak right now.

Everyone knows why they got rid of him. It wasn't a numbers game. He had a role, was the only reason he was there. He wasn't aggressive in filling it.
Clearly that lead to issues, and he went out the door.
