That Kings trade is brutal for the Jets, Martinez isn't an upgrade really and there's no way I'd ever trade Niku for him and I certainly wouldn't be giving away Green in the same trade.

I certainly hope they do, praying they sign both those guys shortly so the Jets can't do anything stupid and trade for either of them.

Hey don't listen to this guy he really doesn't know what he is talking about he wants an arm and a leg for each of them cuz his team is desperate to get what they can before they go in full rebuild. I can tell you that's overpayment Ottawa would be stupid not to get Laine, Petan, and a 1st. Stone is the only one who gets an extension Duchene you are at least getting a little bit back for him...Athrin just really doesn't know what he is talking about he think Stone should bring in McDavid quality because of the biasness of being an Ottawa fan. That's just how it goes..also Winnipeg would decline they would just sign Stone and Duchene in the offseason tbh. Ottawa isn't going to trade them if they start asking for this much they will just lose out on them in my honest opinion.

Sounds like Ottawa has a pretty full contingent of scouts in Winnipeg at both Jets and Moose games so it appears a trade for probably Stone is likely, I'm really hoping not but it sounds like it's going to happen. I just pray they don't give up too many pieces that'll be important to the future.

I love the idea of WPG bringing Stone home in place of Laine, and adding Duchene as a rental. Laine for stone is pretty even value, Laine arguably has more value in a trade since he is only 20 years old and an RFA and stone is a UFA. So if the jets want to add Duchene they don't have to pay as much since they are already ahead over Laine for Stone. Having said that Perrault is pretty much an overpaid 4th line so his value is kinda negative, and I think Ottawa would be looking for a bit more of a return for the both of them.

No way in hell Stone signs for only $8 million per. He's looking at closer to $9 million or $10 million per.

Wow, sorry but the whole bringing home the local kid is just the dumbest thinking ever.
And trading Laine at the trade deadline would be the DUMBEST TRADE EVER. Think of the return you could get for him at another time of the year, like what would Carolina give for Laine who they could put with fellow Finn Aho? Probably would be at least 3 or 4 really good pieces, trading a generational goal scorer for a couple rentals even if Stone signs with the Jets would be really, really bad asset management.
Also Duchene has been a cancer anywhere he's been, Ottawa can keep him.

Yeah and he's so not worth that kind of money.

Yup, Stone is a great player but I think his next contract is gonna look really ugly in about 2 to 3 seasons unless he only signs a 5 year deal.

Laine in any deal outside of summer for 2 firsts and two quality prospects is ludicrous, especially for rentals that possibly throw away any possible cap room, wpg has never been about any individual players, but a team build concept, I don’t see Chevy over paying for anything and any deal isn’t coming from the jets roster, but picks and moose

I agree but I wouldn't be surprised if Chevy stupidly gets caught up in the 'Stone is from Winnipeg' fever.
I really don't want Stone, his next contract is gonna be ugly in no time.

I could see them getting him but I still believe as a rental and paying a rental price not sign and trade price, because they could get outbid in summer and jets rely on rfa security over any of there free agents other than the guys that have been there a while ie wheeler, little,
