If BOS went all in

Created by: ngikas
Team: 2018-19 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 18, 2019

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
BOS currently has 15 mil in available cap space so they have a lot of space to make multiple major moves.

Now I dont see this as a likely outcome because I can't see the Sens making a trade with us for Stone and I think the value is still a little low even for a rental. I also think we could see other teams out offer BOS too. I thought about Duchene instead but Stone just fills a need much better for this team.

The Staal deal ive entertained for a few days now on here. I think hes a great fit for our 3rd line and hope the bruins can make a play for him but ive read the islanders should have interest in him and could see them out offering the bruins.

I dont think its a great idea to take Heinen off that first line either with the way hes been playing and same with Celharik off the Krejci line but this lineup could be dangerous. I could see Stone getting traded and then resigning in OTT come July 1st. But the goal is to win a cup and with this lineup I think we become a serious threat to challenge the likes of Tampa and Washington.

With all the money thats due this summer to our RFAs i think this is a good year to really go all in. The cap space is just going to get tighter and tighter from here on out, especially if the youth on the big club and the ones still developing turn into what we think they could. These moves are pretty much salvaging the farm and we would be giving up a lot of draft capital in whats supposed to be a relatively deep draft but the goal is to win a cup.

I guess it all depends on those futures that are traded away. If they are going to be NHLers, is the trade worth for the Bruins? Is any team going to beat Tampa and get out of the Atlantic this year?

Senyshyn will be a 4th liner, Zboril will be a 3rd pairing D, Studnicka will be a low end middle 6 forward and the 1st will be top 25

Like I think this is a lineup that could be a real threat to tampa. I think all the prospects in the deal have a legitimate shot at being NHL players. The highest ceiling being Studnicka and JFK and I think they're both locks to be in the NHL as top 6 centers. BOS has a log jam at LD right now and I can't see Zboril cracking the lineup any time soon with how Vaak and Lauzon have developed and the emergence of Grezlyk. Senyshyn will get there soon I think too but his development has just taken longer than expected. The draft picks are tough to give up but they carry value and especially in the OTT deal, they need a first rounder desperately.

I like your optimism about the Bruins beating Tampa. Certainly Tampa has been very good this year, but they are not without flaws. They are good defensively and too give up a lot of shots, but certainly not bullet proof in the back end. It's their scoring that wins that has vaulted way above other teams during the regular season. If they gets shut down a bit in the playoffs then it got be close battle between the Bruins/Tampa or Leaf/Tampa. Admitting easier said than done in shutting down their diverse offence.

Losing stud would be the real killer in this deal. Zaboril and JFK look fine and probably translate to nh l players. You add stone and staal but lose only o e of your top 3 prospects I'd take that

Yeah the way I look at it is we have Frederic still who I think fits nicely as a third line center next season but obviously the organizational depth there becomes a factor. And with an aging Bergy and Krejci it could be a bad position to be in.

Its the NHL playoffs, anything can happen. All it takes is a couple bounces your way and goaltending to be hot at the right time

The only way Tampa doesn't get out of the East is if they have a significant injury or injuries OR a complete meltdown. They're so dangerous. They're defensively competent. Vasi is elite. They play fast and heavy. I think I'd rather take the first wildcard spot and have to go through the metro this season.

You're probably right about the wild card spot as the best chance for BOS to do damage in the playoffs this year but how long can Tampa keep this pace? They're due for a slump at some point, and that could happen in mid/late april

I mean, this is just the epitome of stupid. You’re giving definitive, final projections on guys that have either played a year plus of pro hockey, or are still in junior. Studnicka has done nothing but basically been the best guy on the ice for the majority of team canada games. Have you seen him play one single game? What are you basing your projections off of?

I agree and depending how staal fits he could be a guy we could resign for cheap money.
