Eh, wouldn't go that far...at least not this year. Is he worth his cap hit? No. But he's currently on pace for 51 points, which wouldn't be awful. He would currently be 4th on the Stars roster in goals and points. Offensively, he's put up 2 fewer points than Zuccarello, despite have played over 4 minutes less per game...and for some reason everyone seems to love Zuccarello (which makes no sense for Dallas).

Is he worth his contract? Absolutely not, but this season he's shown a little bit of the Bobby Ryan that was good in a middle-6 role in Anaheim and the early years in Ottawa. If Dallas can somehow work the cap situation, I'd have no issue with them taking on Ryan's contract if it was a part of a package for Mark Stone.

I meant the contract.. obviously lol. I forgot to add that, sorry. You are right that this season he has been very good. I doubt he gets traded but he has something in him left. He is definitely not worth his contract but we see glimpses of old Ryan from Anaheim days in this year but I think it would fall off from next year on rather rapidly...

Oof this is bad. Dzingel=1st, so Dallas is paying for the TOP3 most overpaid player two almost similar players in level and a LTIR UFA that has no meaning in any team's salary cap.

This is just atrocious for Dallas.

As much as it pains me to say it, Bobby Ryan isn't going anywhere for anything. He is in Ottawa till he hits Free Agency in 3.5 years time or moved for half his salary at the TDL in 2023. That being said, Ottawa actually needs him as a veteran presence and as a cap crunch guy (plus, as stated by Mr. @J_Sand3rs, he isn't doing as bad people think). No on in Ottawa is going to sign for those kind of numbers until 2021 when Hotsam Batcho gets a new contract so they need to hit the floor at some point.

Plus, Methot is done for the season. Stick him on LTIR and let him walk.

Oh I absolutely agree. If I’m a GM in the NHL, I’m not trading for him unless he’s a part of a Duchene/Dzingel/Stone package, simply because he’s being paid a ton of money and he’s on the wrong side of 30. If it lowers the asking price on one of the big three, then he’s worth considering, but a trade where he’s the centerpiece is a bad idea.
