Good work, this seems pretty possible. There’s also value in moving Schmaltz because he’ll be on a one-way contract next year as the 4th RHD.

Since Schenn and Perron are injured, I really like this trade, hopefully it happens. Johansson is a good player

Schmaltz was a 1st round pick, went the college route. Never really got the fair shake in STL because he was more of an offensive guy and we liked Bortuzzo as the stay-at-home, 3rd pair type behind Parayko/Pietrangelo (he wasn't taking their jobs). No one took him off of waivers so he really doesn't hold too much value, but he's still kind of young and deserves another shot somewhere.

Blais has developed into a really good prospect, I'd say he's our 2nd best AHL player behind Kyrou. His offense is definitely there in the American league but he plays on the 4th line in his call-ups and we don't see much besides a few flashes. He plays well in the bottom six already (physical/responsible), and has a good amount of scoring upside.

On top of what @AK said, I would also add that I think Schmaltz could be the next Colin Miller. Decent when called up, but given a full year he could really help out moving the puck and generating offense when given the chance.
