Carlo and Panarin

Created by: Haanrngrsfn311
Team: 2019-20 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 2, 2019
Published: Mar. 2, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
KZB line works. Has worked in the past and will work in the future.
Panarin can work as the mentor for Kravtsov. Howden as the #2 center concerns me but allows him to grow into the role.
Chytil and Andersson grow together with a two-way guy in Strome.
4th line GRINDS and wears other teams down while chipping in a little offensively. I know Fast is more than a 4th liner but all 3 of those players compliment each other so well.

From who's perspective? Rangers or teams they are trading with?

Ducks decline. We have too many forwards as it is. Eaves will either be buried or bought out and we would get to keep the 2nd round pick in another transition year.

Rangers ==== Zero interest in Carlo and you don't have to retain to get a 2nd for Vlad.

Pionk is older, further back in his development curve, and has performed quite poorly (in terms of shot metrics) with ridiculous shot-luck. He'll get an unwarranted contract in terms of his performance, whilst Carlo has actually turned into a net positive this year

What if Eaves was sent to NYR for one of their defensemen?

Boston declines. Carlo is an elite shutdown d-man that has been missed in the last two playoffs due to injuries. Pionk is a nice PMD, but Boston has enough of those on the roster and in the system. As for the rest, I don't see why Boston would want Vesey. We have ton of young wingers and Vesey as been a disappointment for how he was hyped up. The 2nd is nice, but it would be better if it was the Rangers 2nd

My thinking was Vesey is having a good year this year. He'll likely hit 40 points (needs 6 more in 18 games). He's 3 years younger and under contract for another year compared to Marcus Johansson so he would replace him at a lower cap hit (savings of 500k). 2nd round pick is a 2nd round pick. If it was NYR's 2nd, I'd want a 4th in return from Boston. Also, as you can see in this thread from other comments, Carlo is very decisive. Like you say he's an "elite shutdown D" (I wouldn't call him elite by any means) while others say he sucks. I think he's a 2nd pair D-man.

Carlo is a career 3rd pair with limited if any offense...

Even next year if MoJo leaves, Boston has the following that can play LW or RW

    Bjork
    Studnicka
    Frederic
    JFK
    Cehlarik
    Senyshyn
    Lauko

    More than enough internal options.

Well, let’s start with the return. Vesey does nothing for me. The bruins could just extend mojo and get a better all around player at similar money. Pionk is a nice player, but he doesn’t bring what Carlo does. Couldn’t care less about the second at the moment. Not the time for the bruins to be trading out players to acquire picks. So the package doesn’t really have anything that’s exciting, then you look st what you’re giving up. A 6’6” 22 year old d man that’s an incredible skater and has been kind of an elite shut down guy this year. He’s shown a ton of potential for jumping up in the play, even though he hasn’t really shown much finish around the net. Those kind of players don’t really get moved after their elc, let alone for a package of what would be spare parts in Boston. If there was some sort of contract dispute, maybe there could be some talks, but I feel like the package would have to be very different.
